The Cyber team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Network Engineer 4 based out of San Diego, CA.

What You'll get to Do:

Designs and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline from an ABET accredited university and 9 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; 7 years with a Master's degree

  • Experience with IT Infrastructure Management/Monitoring Tools (e.g.,WhatsUpGold, Splunk, SolarWinds, Cisco Secure Servers - ISE) and Techniques.

  • Experience with network configuration and troubleshooting, to include routing, switching, access lists, and firewalls.

  • Experience with terrestrial network architectures, designs and implementations as well as network security architectures

  • Must be able to work well in a team environment and be able to adapt quickly to change

  • Proficiency in MS Office including PowerPoint and Visio

  • Ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret Clearance

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience with NISPOM (Chapter 8) and/or DCID 6/ICD 503 requirements and classified processing environments and procedures

  • Experience with 8510.01 Risk Management Framework (RMF)

  • Experience configuring and maintaining Cisco routers, managed switches, and firewalls.

  • Experience configuring and maintaining Tactical Radio networks including ANW2, SRW, TTNT, MUOS, and WNW.

  • Experience with multiple networking protocols across client-server platforms as well as an understanding of large-scale

processor applications (Ethernet, HDLC, TCP/IP, VRF, OSPF, UDP, DHCP, SMTP, and FTP).

  • Experience with network subnetting and CIDR.

  • Experience administering Linux and Windows.

  • VMWare or other virtualization experience.

  • Experience working with suppliers

  • Experience with aerospace development, production and fielding

  • Possess one or more of the following certifications: Security , CCNA, CCNP, CASP or CISSP

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Will support Aegis Combat System Modernization Integration Testing for Aegis CG and DDG class ships in San Diego CA as part of the Aegis Modernization Team (AMT)stationed at Naval Station San Diego. Overall responsibility for ensuring the AEGIS Computing Infrastructure (ACI) is operational and available. Specific responsibilities include: * Responsible for Aegis Computer Infrastructure equipment suites, setup configurations, equipment interfaces and data extraction requirements. * Responsible for proper activation and operation of the Tactical computing environment including OE, network, equipment configuration and computer program operation and interface with other elements. * Ensure that Aegis Computing Infrastructure is available to support all scheduled testing. * Perform ACI associated test procedures and generate test reports including Pre-assessments and ALO Assessments. * Serve as the System Administrator for the Aegis Weapon System during Test program. Implement shipboard passwords and password policy. * Identify and resolve Aegis Computing Infrastructure equipment, operating environment and computer program issues. * Support physical layer testing and troubleshooting, including but not limited to fiber optic testing and troubleshooting. * Provide engineering support for testing and troubleshooting many types of communication interfaces. * Assist with computer program and/or equipment changes as necessary to support ship test and integration program. * Participate/perform data collection and analysis for summary report. * Provide ships force with equipment, operations and maintenance familiarization throughout the test program. * Some travel (domestic and international) will be required. Basic Qualifications: * Operational and Administrative knowledge of UNIX/Linux Operating Systems using Command Line Interface (CLI) in an X11 windows-based environment. * Experience testing, integrating and troubleshooting VME-based Single Board Computer and High Performance Server-based Hardware. * Operational and Configuration knowledge of Cisco based Enterprise-level Network hardware and software. * Candidate should possess strong analytical and problem solving skills with good written and verbal communication skills o Must be physically able to work aboard a U.S. Navy ship and support short underway periods o Intermediate level of competence with Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, and Power Point) o Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance o Candidate will be subject to drug screening as per company policy o Ability to travel up to 25 percent of the time.
