Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced a Video Engineer with progressive-to senior level experience in network operations and network security technologies. This position will be located in McLean, VA

Position requires a high degree of technical proficiency and familiarity with software and network security issues as well as systems administration experience. Candidate needs to be well versed in performing network drawings in Visio.

Attention to detail and a willingness to document and provide status of projects is a must. Candidate should feel comfortable performing in a customer interfacing role and display excellent verbal and presentation skills. Qualified candidate must be able to work independently and on multiple projects/activities concurrently and recommend future direction or projects to management. Occasional after hours work is expected.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Receive open source video/audio from around the world via satellite feeds, cable TV and off air transmission.

  • Supply source programming to the customer's internal TV grid and streaming servers.

  • Record video/audio programming, and VTC's as requested.

  • Disseminate video/audio of special events from various customer locations to the workforce.

  • Provide all O&M support to maintain video/audio infrastructure. Maintain all video and audio equipment in the Video Engineering Studio. (Equipment includes satellite receivers, fiber optic receivers, RF receivers, modulators, multiplexers, fiber optic transmitters, audio and video amplifiers).

  • Determine what new video equipment is needed, install and maintain it

  • Convert video to various formats.

  • Update records to infrastructure changes

  • Maintain HQ streaming from workstations and maintain operations and source feeds from the receivers


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 9 years of experience, a Master's Degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience, a PhD and a minimum of 4 years of experience, or a total of 13 years of experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • Must have an active TS/SCI/Poly clearance

  • Experience in network operations

  • Ability to create network drawings in Visio

  • Familiarity with streaming video/audio

  • Experience upgrading, installing, and/or maintaining audio and video equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background with a variety of IT systems, networks, hardware, and software

  • Experience maintaining complex IT infrastructures

  • Ability to work with other administrators at both the enterprise and local level

  • Ability to interact with and present to a wide range of technical staff and management

  • Experience with Cisco network equipment, Cisco VTC equipment, and Cisco Call Managers and associated hardware

  • STEM Degree

The successful candidate will have experience with core network infrastructure, distribution network infrastructure, network security, and business support networks for Service Provider level IT networks. Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed. 10. May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users. 11. May perform network administration duties. 12. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel and may have supervisory responsibilities. 13. May serve as technical team or task leader. 14. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned. 15. Participates in special projects as required. Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. Qualifications: 5-8 years of directly related experience in network analysis and administration. CCNA or A+ certifications preferred.
