Candidate must demonstrate a high degree of expertise in the areas of LANs, MAN, WANs, firewall services, network monitoring tools, router, and switch configuration. As Build Engineer, candidates must analyze communications, create plans for the network, present it to senior management, be up to date on the latest technology, understand, and determine the hardware and wiring needs.
The candidate will provide expertise in local and wide area network design and analysis, disaster recovery planning and implementation, storage technologies (i.e., Storage Area Network), AD design, implementation, and optimization; technical designs, implementation and optimization and other services related to system, software, and network engineering.
Develop and maintain functional and secure networks ensuring the protection and availability of data & voice networks in all classifications.
Implemented software upgrades, software patch installations, hardware replacements and diagnosis/resolution of any software/hardware issues.
Assist with the installation of new hardware and software making sure that all components (hardware and software) interface correctly with each other and the network.
Engineer and implement designs related to upgrades and enhancements involving all IT Infrastructure, servers, firewalls, circuits, cabling, AD, Domain Name System Security Extensions/DNS, network monitoring tools, and other
Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly reports and input for Task activity reports, balanced scorecard reporting requirements, FISMA/FISCAM audit requirements, etc.
Design, implement, and deploy solutions and equipment within the enterprise environment.
Use Modeling and Simulation to assess the alternatives for major decisions affecting the design and deployment of both the end item and its system.
Evaluate, review, and test all new hardware and software projects, requests or upgrades to ensure that all components (hardware and software) interface correctly with each other and the network.
Perform risk assessments to mitigate potential vulnerabilities across the OPM network enterprise.
Research, review, and design security architectures that address existing vulnerabilities either through the Authorization and Accreditation process or as part of a new system design or change.
Develop, provide, and maintain testing artifacts.
Provide the operation and Maintenance for all servers, remote access and LAN/WAN software and hardware. Maintenance includes (but is not limited to) backup and restoration, software upgrades, software patch installations, hardware replacements and diagnosis/resolution of any software/hardware issues.
Plan, Configure, Operate, And Maintain Test Environments.
Provide qualified staff with expertise in the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to facilitate and coordinate efforts for the accreditation and reaccreditation of applicable DoD Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) components, Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) entries, VMS entries, and any documentation to assist the DoD PKI in obtaining Designated Approval Authority to Operate, maintaining current Task Area, or Interim Authority to Test (IATT), and the DoD PKI-PIV Enterprise, as directed by the Government Task Lead for the Testing Environments.
Use server-monitoring tools to optimize, improve, expand, upgrade server and network capabilities, and connectivity as deemed necessary.
Review system logs to determine usage levels, performance, and security posture of systems. Report misuse or security breaches immediately to Network Management.
Install new hardware and software making sure that all components (hardware and software) interface correctly with each other and the network - including new servers, backup drives, MS desktop/server operating systems, etc. To include base software and applications installed on servers such as antivirus, desktop/system monitoring tools, SPIs, system monitoring tools, etc.
Engineer and implement designs related to upgrades and enhancements involving all IT Infrastructure, servers, firewalls, circuits, cabling, AD, DNS, network monitoring tools, and other special systems.
Perform server administration as outlined by the onsite Government Team Lead(s).
Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly reports and input for activity reports, balanced scorecard reporting requirements, FISMA/FISCAM audit requirements, etc.
Ensure that IT processing and storage capacity provision match the evolving demands of the business in a cost effective and timely manner.
Monitor the performance and the throughput of the IT services and IT components: tune activities to make efficient use of resources, understand the current demands for IT resources and deriving forecasts for future requirements, influence the demand for resource in conjunction with other Service Management processes, and produce a capacity plan predicting the IT resources needed to achieve agreed service levels.
Monitor service performance and availability. Manage service levels, systems, networks, service throughput analysis, and tuning and demand management.
Manage the components of the IT infrastructure and ensure that all finite resources within the IT infrastructure are monitored and measured, and that collected data is recorded, analyzed, and reported.
Develop knowledge of the current technology and its utilization, future or alternative technologies, and the resilience of systems and services.
Correct data spills and perform sanitation in accordance with established Government policies and processes.
Use Government provided tools to automate the deployment and removal, if necessary, of information systems security requirements (patches, updates, and configuration changes).
Create, update, optimize, and manage the standard server, desktop, and laptop images and the processes used to deploy the images to ensure more predictable application behavior, performance, simplify CM, increase security, and decrease system deployment times.
Create, update, optimize, and manage the standard network configuration and the processes used to deploy the configuration to ensure more predictable behavior, performance, simplify CM, increase security, and decrease deployment times.
Ensure updates and software changes are approved by the Government change management processes.
Update standard images and configurations to reflect approved configuration changes.
Coordinate with customers on rollout schedule and testing of new software and firmware releases.
Provide the Test and Development environments to enable application development and solution testing and evaluation.
Provide timely provisioning for the Test and Development Environments.
Provide large-scale diagrams depicting the "as is" environment, services, and dependencies. The contractor shall update diagrams quarterly with formally published revisions for display in operations, planning, and executive areas.
Provide server rack drawings/diagrams of virtual and physical devices. These diagrams shall include at a minimum: role, environment details, and other configuration items.
Provide Tier 2 and 3 services to include system administration, user account management and application services to the customers. The contractor shall develop test plans, configure the test bed in secured facilities, execute tests, and develop test reports detailing the results of tests.
Prepare implementation plans based on the results of testing and provide engineering services in the deployment of the proposed enhancements and modifications.
