Network And Systems Engineer

This onsite position will support network and systems operations for three U.S. locations of ELMET Technologies located in Lewiston, Maine, Euclid, Ohio and Coldwater, Michigan, and can be based at any of these ELMET locations.

The Network & Systems Engineer position will provide the underlying network, and systems support with direct management and technical leadership as it pertains to details and prioritization of all network engineering and system administration efforts related to projects, tasks, and goals. This person will work closely with the rest of the Information Technology team to help drive the strategic roadmap for all network related infrastructure efforts. This hands-on technical position will also provide the organization with the highest level of expertise and support, as it applies to state-of-the-art network infrastructures, security, software, and services. This includes all aspects of system monitoring, system administration, system backups, fine tuning, system controls, and documentation. Will be involved with installing, configuring, upgrading and troubleshooting any software issues relating to infrastructure technologies. This position is charged with the responsibility and accountability of providing information for long-term technological solutions that will meet the company's needs, as well as maintaining the reliability and service level standards as dictated by department management. The position will also be charged with the development and implementation of standards, processes and procedures that conform to best practices outlined in ITIL, DFARS, NIST-800 and CMMC standards. The Network & Systems Engineer will be responsible for any business and technical requirements related to IT Helpdesk, Computer Services, Telecommunications, Vendor Support and Network performance.

Networking:

• Creates network architecture and design blueprints à Ensures the network is properly integrated, secured and designed in a manner that is organized and supportable.
• Ensures the proper hardware is selected and configured for enterprise operation, including managing end of life, patching and standard configurations across all locations.
• Sets up all equipment on the network monitoring solution and defines alerts for specific conditions
• Manages routine maintenance on all network maintenance tasks for all networked devices
• Installs patches and performs firmware updates to all network devices, including firewalls, servers, wireless controllers, switches
• Defines the network security policies for the organization's network
• Plans and executes network scaling and bandwidth efforts as upgrades are needed from internet circuits to switches, etc.
• Defines Disaster Recovery steps for the network, servers and server-based applications, which includes testing recovery of systems
• Works with all IT team members as the local knowledge expert of the ELMET network architecture
• Handles all setup and maintenance for all internet circuits for each ELMET location, which includes primary and backup internet circuits
• Coordination of network cabling and internet circuits for all ELMET locations
• Ensures proper operation of UPS Battery backup on all network devices and redundant power integration

Servers:

• Handles all server administration, setups, backups and ensures performance meets company needs
• Works with end users on any deployment of software to servers, including setup of new servers needed
• Handles all virtualized servers, including setup, maintenance and support. Is the local expert on our hypervisor running on blade servers
• Performs patching and firmware upgrades on all company servers estimated to be around 47 servers enterprise wide
• Oversees all hosted data center servers and coordinates any support to our 3rd party data hosting providers
• Manages all detailed server licenses for on-prem and hosted server environments

Systems:

• Ensures all systems and applications are running properly on the network. Troubleshoots any issues with systems
• Oversees patching of all systems and applications running on servers
• Works with GlobalShop and SAP ERPs on any network connectivity issues
• Configures all network connectivity for 3rd party applications (SAP, GSS, CRM, etc.)
• Assist with deployment of GlobalShop DUO MFA
• Provides systems support on any printer issues across the network
• Involved with Systems and Application licensing applied to ELMET servers
• Responsible for all 3rd party software running on ELMET servers

Helpdesk:

• Provides network support expertise to other IT team members related to helpdesk issues
• Assists IT Helpdesk Technicians with any end user issues as needed

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as computer science, or equivalent experience
• Five years of Network Engineering, overseeing data center and infratructure experience
• CCIE, CCNA, CCNP or certification in related field a plus
• Strong technical background and engineering skills with projects that involve networks, switches, APs, routers, physical/virtual server platforms, Azure/Cloud platforms, Cloud Backup services
• Experience with ethernet networks including technologies such as copper and fiber, TCP/IP, VPN, intrusion prevention systems (IPS) and Firewalls
• Experienced with anti-malware and endpoint security technologies
• Must have wireless networking, 802.1x, routing and switching, VoIP, SIP (Configuration and Administration)
• Strong knowledge and experience with well-known network ports and protocols such as DHCP, DNS, NTP, SSH, and FTP
• Experience with routing protocols such as BGP, and OSPF. Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, Windows Server
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft O365 (preferably GCC-High) administration, including Microsoft Exchange Online
• Experience with NAS, Fiber-channel, shared storage, hosted data center management and blade chassis utilization
• Experience with VMWare and Hyper-V product administration
• Knowledge of both on premise and cloud-based phone systems
• Knowledge of manufacturing ERP systems a plus
• Experience with mobile hardware support and MDM solutions
