OverviewDesigns, builds and implements network systems across the enterprise. Plans, develops, installs, configures, maintains and supports all local and wide area network connections, corporate serves, and communication links.
Analyzes network traffics and provides capacity planning solutions. Responsibilities- Installs, configures, upgrades, maintains and repairs all network hardware, software, and communication links. Maintains all routers, switches, hubs, and uninterrupted power supply (UPS). Replaces defective or inadequate hardware and software and works with service personnel to correct major hardware problems. Ensures network and IP connectivity of all workstations, application servers, and back-end office infrastructure.
Analyzes and resolves end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely manner. Provides end user training on the operation of current and new equipment and software when required.
Maintains and upgrades security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
Conducts research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
Perform server and security audits. Documents findings and notifies appropriate personnel of any issues. Monitors and tests network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports to management.
Configure and maintain address tables for network devices. Monitors network and server devices utilizing tools provided to maintain metrics of operation and permit notification of failures.
Maintains network component inventory, technical specifications information and other related documentation. Inspects, maintains, and replaces network cabling, voice/data jacks, and other network-related equipment when needed.
Administers and maintains end user accounts, permissions, and access rights. Stays abreast networking upgrades and trends. Responds to help desk tickets and updates status as required.
Recommends, schedules, and performs network improvements, upgrades, repairs and replacement of network infrastructure components. Identifies and resolves network performance bottlenecks.
Analyzes and resolves moderately complex end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely manner. Monitors system capacity to determine its affect on performance and recommends enhancements to meet new or changing network demands. Plans, acquires, and coordinates installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization's network.
Recommends changes to network products, services, protocols and/or standards to support current and future business needs. Practices network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, related documentation and technical specifications information.
Participates in managing all network security solutions and performs server/security audits as needed. Develops and implements policies, procedures, and associated training for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
Establishes connectivity and uptime service level agreements. Interacts with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services. Works with vendors for network product implementation.
Analyzes and reviews the requirements for task and projects related to budget requirements. Provides on-call support as needed.
Supports other department members and act as a backup if needed. May be assigned additional duties and/or special projects. Qualifications- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Networking, Information Technology or a related field and 2-4 years of networking experience.
Network Certification a plus. Experience in network setup, configuration, security, and troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience and technical knowledge of network systems, management/analysis tools, protocols, security systems, data privacy laws, network hardware and standards such as Ethernet, Token ring, LAN, WAN, frame relay, xDSL, TCP/IP, ATM, T1, 802.11x, etc. Client/server, operating system, switched and routed environment, hardware, software and network connection troubleshooting experience. Working technical knowledge of current network hardware and installation of networking equipment.
Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required and to present ideas in user-friendly language.
Highly self-motivated and directed. Keen attention to detail. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Strong customer service orientation. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. On-call availability.
Frequent overtime and weekend work is required to test, troubleshoot and/or implement systems administered position.
