The Role

We are looking for a talented Network Engineer who possess a significant level of specialized, technical and functional expertise required to effectively manage a major LAN/WAN System(s). You will be reporting into the Network Manager and may provide lead direction to other staff or assume responsibility for coordinating a defined program.

Deliverables:

Performs a variety of complex systems analysis duties in the development, installation, implementation and evaluation of local area, wide area or multi-protocol open data networks
Analyzes user information system needs; recommends solutions and appropriate technology to meet client needs; and designs systems as appropriate
Installs, tests and configures network hardware and software
Provides continuous technical support to users of several hardware components
Runs server security procedures and capacity reports
Documents the functionality and requirements of automated information systems; creates user guides and manuals for system users; and assists in training users as needed
Assists in the preparation of presentations for information systems projects to a variety of internal and external committees
Contacts vendors for components, technical reference and/or services required for network expansion and maintenance
Assists in documenting changes, additions, deletions and revisions to network components, wiring and facilities and prepares status reports as required
Performs preventive maintenance to preclude major network outages or degradation to customer service
Participates in evaluations of proposed network hardware to ensure compatibility with existing systems.
You Have:

Bachelor' s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information processing or a closely related field.
4+ years of experience in designing, installing and helping to maintain complex LANs and WANs network acceleration technologies using TCP/IP, UDP and other standard networking protocols using physical layers, bridges, gateways and routers.
Operational characteristics of various computer programs, networks and software packages
Advanced network design and configuration; Network security practices and techniques
Install, administer, and configure routers, switches, (Aruba) firewalls and other network security appliances
Your Competitive Advantage:

This role can be located in uptown Charlotte or Concord.Position Summary This position is responsible for tracking and updating project measures for the Energy Services Design team. This position interfaces with both Design and Business Development team members to ensure projects and proposals are tracked through the development and design process. The Project Controls Specialist II (PCS-II) is a critical position. As part of a project team they will be responsible for KPIs associated with progress through the design process. Using prescribed methods and tools, the position is responsible for maintaining the database of project assignments. The PCS II position will also be responsible for maintaining Energy Services' business readiness initiative to ensure all applicable licenses and standards are accounted for when new project types and locations develop. The position is considered a technical, SME, support position and requires college level reasoning via formal education or work experience. It requires working knowledge to proficient use, understanding and application of project controls principles and associated project controls software tools. Responsibilities * Generate Periodic Project Controls Reports Generate daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly project controls reports. Responsible for gathering, verifying, validating and analyzing data in support of project controls reporting. Responsible for distributing and archiving project controls reports as appropriate. * Perform Change Control. Track and manage changes to the project scope, schedule and cost baseline. Identify, assess, gain approval for, and distribute change requests, change notices and/or change orders in a manner compliant with internal governance standards and terms and conditions of relevant contracts (as appropriate). * Project Controls Benchmarking and Self Assessment Initiatives. Assist in scheduling and carrying out benchmarking and self assessment initiatives relevant to project controls and the types of projects typically managed by the project controls group. Identify and communicate improvement opportunities, adoption of best practices and counter measures to address gaps in performance. * Expertise in Project KPI tracking and trending. Helps develop and refine project performance indicators to allow project advancement visibility to group and upper management. * Leads Business Readiness Initiatives. Leads tracking of Business Readiness initiatives to help ensure all applicable licenses and standards are accounted for when new project types and locations develop. * Effective Team Participation. The PCS is responsible for maintaining effective relationships with team members both inside and outside the Design group to help effectively advance project proposals. Displays proficiency in conflict resolution and reaching win-win outcomes among team members.
