Network Analyst I Central Job Details | Broward County Public Schools

POSITION GOAL

To provide assistance in the coordination/installation and to monitor the performance of all remote and local on-line computing equipment. To assist with end-user questions and problems relating to computer hardware and data lines.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Network Analyst I shall carry out the essential performance responsibilities listed below.

• Have the ability to operate equipment and office machines as required to perform assigned tasks and to make minor repairs and adjustments to same; diagnose hardware for reporting to vendors.

• Conduct regular visits of school and administration sites to assist the end of user with problems related to data communications.

• Assist in the quality control function.

• Troubleshoot and resolve both digital and analog data transmission lines.

• Efficiently allocate the resources of the computer through the communications console, if applicable to the job assignment.

• Prepare technical reports from information at hand and distribute same upon request.

• Maintain job streams (job control statements and insertion of data), if applicable to job assignment.

• Troubleshoot and repair selected data communications hardware at school and user sites.

• Perform site surveys for new school computer installation.

• Monitor network reliability and response time.

• Install and maintain selected data communications hardware and software at schools and users sites.

• Be capable of performing assigned tasks under minimal supervision.

• Interact effectively with the general public, staff members, students, teachers, parents, and administrators, using tact and good judgment.

• Participate, successfully, in the training programs offered to increase the individual's skill and proficiency related to the assignment.

• Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.

• Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.

• Perform other tasks as assigned by the administrator/supervisor or designee.

• Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program. Three (3) years of progressively more responsible work experience in the area of computers and data communications technology. Computer skills as required for the position.

OR

Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program. Two (2) years of progressively more responsible work experience in the area of computers and data communications technology and a certificate of completion in an accredited course in computer electronics repair. Computer skills as required for the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Bilingual skills preferred.
