Umbra Lab, Inc. (Umbra) is a technology company which builds next-generation space systems. Umbra is launching an unrivaled constellation of space-based radar satellites with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) capabilities, to produce all weather day-night imagery with sub-meter resolution for low cost distribution via an integrated web platform. We are a bold, experienced team of developers, engineers, product specialists, and other professionals working to aggressively expand the state-of-the-art for commercial remote sensing.

We are looking for a Network Administrator to plan, manage and maintain the Companys IT infrastructure including hardware, software, enterprise systems, related security, and compliance. The individual filling this role will report to the Vice President of Operations and collaborate with all company departments to support Umbras mission.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that computer hardware, network infrastructure, and data network are effectively maintained, including: Procurement of new hardware, rollout and updates of software, maintaining disk images for new computer installs, maintaining the standards for server installations and applications, monitoring the performance of the network, checking for security breaches, and enforcing data management practices
  • Manage servers, software-network interactions, and network integrity/resilience
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external hardware, software, enterprise systems and security requirements, decisions, and troubleshooting
  • Analyze, recommend and implement cost-effective technologies that address enterprise and business unit needs

Basic Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree in Computer Science or related IT field
  • 5+ years of network administration, IT implementation and IT management experience in a private company environment
  • Experience managing a networked environment with Apple and Windows PC devices
  • Experience with cloud-based ERP system selection and implementation
  • Understanding of organizational resource permission best practices and SSO administration
  • Experience managing a networked environment with Apple and Windows PC devices
  • 3 - 5 years of experience of Active Directory and Windows Server administration
  • Knowledge of information security compliances, including those specific to government requirements
  • Experience with VMware ESXi virtualization
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced development environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP system implementation and programming/scripting of workflow automation tooling
  • Experience in an aerospace or defense contractor environment, or similar environment with an emphasis on physical and IT security
  • Experience implementing cloud-based alternatives (e.g. AWS, Azure) to on-premises file-servers and Active Directory
  • Experience implementing and maintaining site-to-site VPN

The Security Architect will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and addressing target objectives for constructing Umbra’s internal data communication networks conducive to security and business objectives. The Network and Security Architect will collaborate with department heads and 3rd party providers regarding technological best practices and implementation of core technology.
