Network Administrator

• Designs, specifies, configures, installs, and maintains local area network hardware, software, and telecommunications services such as personal computers, system software, software applications, printers, servers, switches, and routers.
• Establishes and maintains network users, user environment, directories, and security.
• Trains users on software and equipment usage.
• Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs.
• Develops and communicates standards for use, operation, and security of network, personal computers, and data.
• Communicates with other departments to report and resolve software, hardware and operations problems.
• Researches and evaluates new technologies.
• Manages email system.
• Manages access to Internet and firewall.
• Installs and tests software upgrades.
• Collects and analyzes network and disk utilization.
• Assists network users via Helpdesk
• Develops and maintains knowledge of the agency's local and wide area cable plants.
• Uses cable diagnostic tools to identify and determine the nature of problems of failures within the system.
• Acts as liaison with providers to ensure proper support and to maintain system availability.

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Information Services plus 2 years experience in network environment, Or CNE/MCSE plus 3 years in a network environment, OR 5 years in network environment and 1 year in a leadership position.
