  • Earned Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college or university and/or equivalent education and experience.

  • Three years of related experience in the some or all the following concepts or technologies: OSPF routing, Nexus and Catalyst switches, ASA security appliances, VoIP, H323 and SIP audio/video, QoS, ACS authentication servers, wireless controllers, and wireless security.

  • One or more of the following certifications is highly desired: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE), or other relevant vendor neutral networking certification.

  • Must have good written and oral communication skills

  • Must be able to work within a team-oriented environment

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to provide input in a team environment

  • Must be able to move and handle technology components and devices

  • Ability to learn new technology and software as they are introduced into the work environment

  • Ability to research and solve problems independently or as a team using a variety of tools including online knowledge bases, online documentation, printed manuals, etc.

  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and security awareness programs, specifically in a higher education environment preferred.

Job Concepts

Responsible for the day-to-day wired and wireless network operation, needs assessment, planning and installation of network upgrades. Monitor, analyze network capacity and performance. Recommend changes to the network configuration and document network configuration changes. Work with other staff to provide support for the University's telephone system. Manage and maintain support contacts on all network hardware and software.
