Job Description

Education:

The candidate must have a minimum 4 year Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Systems or related field of study. 3-5 years experience in the field of Information Technology is also desired.

Personal Characteristics:

Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for assigned projects. Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving. Have strong sense of urgency. Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

Work Experience:

Five years of experience as a network administrator in a medium to large information technology infrastructure.

Principal Area of Responsibility:

Maintain, repair, and upgrade the local area network by performing the following duties personally:

Specific Duties:

  • Maintains network user policy information and documentation per company policies and procedures.

  • Ensures data integrity and business continuity through effective implementation and maintenance of the data backup and disaster recovery plan including daily reviews of backups and corrective action for job failures.

  • Monitors and maintains deployment and maintenance of anti-virus software.

  • Troubleshoots PC hardware and software problems to identify and resolve hardware and software issues.

  • Ensures timely resolution/referral of user problems by understanding the impact to the user and by assigning an appropriate priority and resolution goal.

  • Maintains and documents hardware and software changes to the company's computer and phone networks in accordance with corporate I.T. and SOX policies.

  • Monitor server health and conducts preventive maintenance to ensure near 100% uptime.

  • Installs, maintains, and configures PCs, servers, phone systems, printers, switches, routers, and firewalls within the LAN environment.

  • Proposes and implements hardware and software upgrades optimizing network performance while remaining within budget.

  • Performs regular off-hour maintenance in order to maximize performance and useful life of PCC's computer network.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

  • Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.

  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.

  • The individual must portray the ability to analytically solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where standardization is not guaranteed. In addition the candidate must be able to interpret different types of instructions ranging from written and oral instructions, to diagrams and schedules.

  • Person must occasionally lift and or move up to 35 pounds. In addition, the ability to read and type is integral to this position. Some contortion of the body to reach behind and under furniture may be required as part of the position.
