PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

Responsible for the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure including routers, switches, and network appliances. Ensuring that managed systems adhere to business continuity requirements and are optimized for security and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the design, deployment, operations, and maintenance of all branch network connectivity, associated hardware, and telecommunications systems.

  • Ensure efficient performance of all equipment and connectivity including, but not limited to, dynamic routing, MPLS, ACL, VLANs, QOS, and IP Tunnels.

  • Provision network resources for all connected devices such as thin clients, PC's, printers, phones, AV equipment, etc.

  • Maintain the daily operations of datacenter networks following defined configurations and/or third-party consultant direction.

  • Create, test, and implement network designs that eliminate single points of failure.

  • Responsible for the design, deployment, operations, and maintenance of data closets, enterprise battery backups, power distribution units, and wireless networks.

  • Analyze network routes to identify areas to implement network micro-segmentation and ensure network segmentation is operating as expected.

  • Analyze performance logs for errors or inconsistencies and remediate any issues following approved submitted corrective action plans.

  • Responsible for the network management, monitoring, and alerting software.

  • Perform analysis and produce regular reports and dashboards providing insights into network health, performance, security, and availability.

  • Create and manage networking monitoring dashboards for the enterprise network including VPN connectivity.

  • Work with IT leadership, peers, and outside consultants to identify and implement continual improvements to the design and efficiency of the network.

  • Install data cable, cross connects, and phone lines required to physically connect networked systems.

  • Responsible for life cycle management of both hardware and software performing upgrades on a regular schedule following proper change management.

  • Build, test, maintain business continuity plans, and ensure all operating configurations are properly backed up and archived.

  • Work with infrastructure service providers on new installs, troubleshooting, etc.

  • Create and maintain all related technical documents and procedures.

  • Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory of all network infrastructure hardware and software.

  • Provide Infrastructure support to I.T. Service Desk assisting with enterprise network and telecommunications related issues.

  • Maintain knowledge of managed systems and environment thru self-study and other approved training opportunities.

  • Participate in departmental on-call scheduling as well as weekly maintenance window schedules.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervise Approximately: None

Reports to: I.T. Infrastructure Manager

Contacts: Frequent contact with other employees, departments, and outside vendors. Some contact with members.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Associate Degree or comparable college units/certifications in Information Technology related courses.

EXPERIENCE

  • Five (5) years total IT experience with enterprise networks, must include a minimum three years with Cisco and Meraki network equipment (e.g., routers, switches, and wireless) required.

  • Must possess and maintain the following certifications: CompTIA Security + and CompTIA Network +.

  • Must possess within 90 days of employment and maintain Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist Certification.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to translate technical jargon for non-technical peers.

  • Ability to establish and maintain technical documentation.

  • Must be highly organized and possess exemplary time management skills to manage projects.

  • Able to manage several projects simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Position involves wrist/hand manipulation; good visual acuity for detail work; ability to bend stoop on a regular basis; reach overhead and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for frequent viewing of computer monitor and review of documents.

  • Must possess a valid Texas driver's license, means of transportation and be able to travel independently.

  • Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.

  • Must have a strong ability to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.

  • Must have a strong ability to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.

  • Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.

  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Can exercise the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

PCs and printers, telecommunications equipment, calculator, fax and copy machine. Knowledge of IT infrastructure as applied both in high volume business processing environments and in consumer-oriented businesses. Working knowledge of virtualization technologies, enterprise network design & topologies, Microsoft Active Directory, DHCP, radius authentication and network security firewalls. Comprehensive working knowledge in intermediate network concepts including dynamic routing protocols, VLAN's, QOS, MPLS, and ACLs. Experience managing and utilizing network monitoring solutions.
