To lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of network services supporting application and business requirements. Lead the development of technical standards and network application interface standards. Provide technical assistance, problem isolation, and resolution of network and application interconnectivity problems. Evaluate new technologies, services, hardware, software, telecommunications equipment and recommend architectures, purchases or upgrades.
Responsible for leading the design, implementation, operation standards, and availability of core networking services and devices used by company's system users, applications, and business partners.
Experience evaluating, managing, and developing agreements with service providers.
Define and manage implementation and support of network architecture elements integrating with network service providers, internal networks, Internet, and business partner interfaces
Develop and monitor security standards and procedures to safeguard systems from unauthorized access
Implement and manage network firewalls interfacing with the Internet and within private networks
Implement and manage security devices allowing effective and secure access into the network by remote users and business partners.
Support and lead the testing processes and problem isolation for application performance or functional issues
Analyze network loads, traffic, and utilization trends; and configuration.
Determine root cause of networking or application problems with mid to high levels of complexity.
Train peers on various service quality skills.
Coordinate with IT teams and vendors in determining new or upgraded services; coordinate repair and upgrades.
Design, implement, and manage secure and reliable IT services supporting a variety of business requirements, while working closely with business partners, service vendors, and internal teams.
Manage network equipment including switches, routers, wireless and other remote access devices and methods.
Lead the design and documentation standards for network configurations.
Support voice (VOIP) and other priority traffic over the network
Install and customize network system software and patches to allow for the smooth exchange of data in and between locations.
Coordinate with vendors and application developers to ensure a stable and responsive network environment.
Frequently required to be on-call on a 24x7 basis to respond to reported problems
Responsible for performing repairs and system upgrades outside of normal business hours.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong, demonstrated working knowledge of system process management best practices
Extensive working knowledge of network hardware and software and how they interact.
In-depth working knowledge and experience managing Cisco, HP, Symantec, and other brands of other networking and security equipment
In-depth understanding and working knowledge of network protocols and security best practices
Strong working knowledge of UNIX and Windows commands, utilities, and system administration concepts.
Extensive working knowledge of network, wireless connectivity, wiring, hubs, routers, etc.
Expert working knowledge and experience managing firewalls to protect sensitive information and support service requirements
Strong experience and working knowledge or wireless technologies
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects with mid or high levels of complexity.
Good working knowledge and preferred certification in ITIL methodologies
Ability to install, configure, and write utility software.
Ability to support systems remotely using a variety of access methods.
Ability to respond to help calls on a 7x24 basis.
Ability to prioritize tasks according to severity of problem.
Ability to learn and apply new technology.
Minimum 5 years of related experience
