Job Description:

JOB DUTIES-

Serves as a physician interface with the staff. Orients new respiratory staff in the NICU and provides evaluations after the three-month probationary period.

Assists in performance improvement projects and is responsible for assisting the evaluation of new equipment. Continues to serve as a Supervisor for the respiratory staff and assists with clerical work as needed and other assigned duties. Demonstrates good ability to communicate in written and verbal fashion, promoting a team approach to patient care.

Assists in organizing and directing the continuing education of the Respiratory NICU Staff and in-services to ancillary departments and physicians as requested. Has access to medication storage areas as required for job tasks. Follows Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

Kentucky Mandatory Certificate Hired and supervised by Respiratory Care Director and Assignments received from Respiratory Care Director and Will obtain the NPS credential within one year of hire if does not already have. Requires an associate degree from a respiratory therapy education program supported by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoArc) or its predecessor.

Requires a baccalaureate degree (or the commitment to obtain within 4 years) from a respiratory care education program or other health-related field. Autonomy: Limited to delivery of physician ordered respiratory care services as defined by the current Respiratory Care department scope of services. Work and/or educational experience that promotes group/team-working relationships.
