As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our care teams by providing high-quality and cost-effective care to our patients.

We are seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner/Neonatal Nurse Practitioner APP Supervisor to:

  • Lead (50%) and practice alongside other Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and NICU Hospitalists (50%) to provide care at our two recently expanded locations: UnityPoint Health-Meriter, a 42-bed Level III NICU, and American Family Children's Hospital, a 26-bed Level IV NICU.

  • Manage staff, programs, and service, develop standards, role optimization and development, monitor performance and evidence-based practice, recruit, hire, and develop staff.

  • Attend high risk deliveries and provide medical management as a member of our multi-disciplinary group.

  • Provide transport for babies with C.H.E.T.A., our emergency response team.

  • Perform routine clinical procedures independently including providing resuscitation and stabilization of newborn, endotracheal tube placement/intubation, PICC line insertion, umbilical catheter insertion (arterial/venous), peripheral arterial line insertion, chest tube insertion and removal, thoracentesis, lumber puncture, double or partial volume exchange transfusion and neonatal transport.

Education:

Minimum

  • Master's or Doctorate's degree from accredited Nursing Program.

Work Experience:

Minumum

  • Two (2) years of APP experience

Preferred

  • Experience as an APP within the UW Health Department/Division. Previous experience managing staff in a clinical or non-clinical environment. Previous experience working in an academic health system.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum

  • Active RN and APNP license in State of Wisconsin AND active board certification as an NP in Neonatal NCC Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of applicable state and national regulatory guidelines

  • Ability to actively and effectively engage with physicians, physician leaders, administrators, and departments in a heavily matrixed environment

  • Ability to develop and tailor presentations and communications to a broad and diverse audiences

  • Ability to manage priorities, projects, and timelines efficiently and effectively

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and take initiative

  • Ability to guide, direct, mentor, train, and work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products

Physical Requirements:

Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

Work Schedule:

100% FTE (50% APP Supervisor/50% NNP). The work schedule will be rotating shifts for days, nights, and weekends. The day shift hours will be from 7:00 am

  • 5:30 pm or 7:00 am

  • 8:00 pm; night shift hours will be 7:30 pm

  • 8:30 am. Hours may vary based on operational needs of the department.
