Seeking a part time neonatal nurse practitioner for our St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville.

  • Level-III NICU with 52 beds, ADC 30-33

  • 7,000 deliveries per year and over 600 admissions

  • Responsibilities include NICU coverage, admissions, procedures and family teaching

  • Coverage model is 24 hour shifts

VIEW JOBS 1/22/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-21T00:00 Position Description This position works under the direction of the Director of Nursing and works closely with the nurses and physicians to support the coordination of services and proper implementation of nursing care and treatment plans. The position will work under Title X guidelines and will focus in the area of family planning. Delivers quality nursing services to improve and sustain family and child well-being, including tiered-counseling approaches to birth control methods; provides cervical cancer and STD screening; acts as a screening provider for TN Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening program; and maintains family planning sterilization list. Acts as a clinician as assigned, obtains health histories, performs physical examinations, collects and interprets laboratory specimens and makes diagnoses. Typical Duties * Works closely with the nurses and physicians to support the coordination of services and proper implementation of nursing care and treatment plans. * Provides health maintenance care (e.g. family planning, communicable disease care), clinical preventive services, and disease prevention services. * Performs a full range of complex duties within a framework of established procedures and protocols and provides services that require the use of experienced judgment and skills. * Participates in the development and implementation of plan(s) of care on the health risks identified during the nursing assessment. Describes services that are available and eligibility criteria as appropriate. * Initiates appropriate teaching and demonstration of care for individual clients and families based on nursing assessment with an emphasis on the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health and self-care. * Follows up on patients as often as indicated. * Refers patients to appropriate resources. * Maintains complete and accurate records on each patient seen. * May be assigned to different clinic/work locations as needed. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree and Master of Science degree in Nursing from a program accredited by a nationally recognized nursing accreditation organization. * Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally recognized nursing accreditation organization. * Certificate of Fitness issued by the State of Tennessee. * Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the State of Tennessee. * Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification. * Skill in oral and written communication. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. * Valid class "D" driver's license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.
