Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Job Summary:

Care will be delivered using a collaborative health care model including physicians, other advanced practice nurses, nursing staff, patients, families, and other supportive health care providers working together to provide a holistic approach to quality patient care. The NNP will provide direct management of neonatal patients from birth/admission through release from the hospital.


Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Essential Responsibilities:

Assess, manage, prescribe, and evaluate appropriate therapeutic and pharmacological interventions for routine and acutely ill newborn care according to standards of practice. Consults collaborating physician, other health care professionals or agencies when a situation is beyond their level of expertise or when additional services are needed to coordinate their health care.


Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Education Qualifications:
  • If licensed after 1999, Master Degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required.

  • Certification from a nationally recognized Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program required.

  • Current Federal DEA and State Controlled Substance License required.

  • Current Connecticut State APRN Licensure required.

  • Current NRP and BLS training required.

  • Be granted and maintain in good standing appropriate Day Kimball Hospital (DKH) Medical Staff privileges.

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Experience Qualifications:
  • 3 Years' experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, or in a clinically equivalent role (such as NICU nurse).
