Active involvement in NICQ (national Quality Collaborative) resulting in State of the Art care. On the fifth floor; great views; 20 minutes from the beach

Reporting to the Nursing Manager, this position is responsible for the planning and delivery of family-centered patient care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards.

Collaborate with patient/family and other professional disciplines. Create a partnership to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery for the achievement of mutually desired patient outcomes. Support the organization's vision and mission.

Promote and provide excellence in nursing care. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS=EXPERIENCE=2 year acute care nursing experience within a pediatric setting.Associate degree in Nursing from an approved school.Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from an accredited school (preferred)=LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED=Basic Life Support (BLS)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)Registered Nurse-California=SPECIAL SKILLS=Knowledge of and ability to provide appropriate family-centered patient care based upon age appropriateness and cultural and spiritual needs Excellent customer satisfaction skills

Ability to work collaboratively and in a positive manner with others Ability to prepare timely and accurate documentation and reports Ability to perform work according to CHOC policies and procedures, professional standards of care, and applicable laws Demonstrate flexibility and creativity in response to unexpected changes in work load/staffing Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standardsESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1) Accurately and thoroughly perform admission, initial, and ongoing assessments of the patient/family utilizing developmental theory to determine physiological, psychosocial, educational, spiritual, cultural, and related factors impacting illness/wellness.2) Review and assimilate clinical data for changes in patient status.3) Report and act on changes in patient condition.4) Recognize and respond to critical changes in clinical situation.5) Administer and monitor therapeutic interventions and regimens.6) Act as a patient advocate by identifying patient/family issues. Seeks out resources to resolve the issues. Ensures needs are met by establishing and re-evaluating priorities of all assigned patients.7) Incorporates organizational regulatory requirements and standards of care and clinical outcome data such as NDNQI, CALNOC, and patient safety goals into nursing practice.8) Promote excellence by partnering with the patient/family in the development of the plan of care.9) Utilizes the EMR to document throughout shift based on CHOC's policies and procedures.10) Provide and document all education to the patient/family related to hospitalization, clinical situation and treatment plan.

Required Qualifications

Years of Experience: 2. CA lic in handBLS, PALS, NRP1 year acute care nursing experience with 6 months in a pediatric settingBSN

It requires flexibility and working weekends and occasional weekdays. This position will be primarily responsible for the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) classes. * 60% travel to clinical facilities for class instruction, in the general Sacramento area * Primarily weekends with possible occasional weekday * Driving personal vehicle to clinical facilities * Teaching a wide range of students (many different goals, education, background) * 15 hours per week on average * Position will be primarily responsible for the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) classes * MUST Be an RN or LVN with 2 years total nursing experience, including 1 year experience providing direct patient care in a long term care facility Job Summary: Provides instruction and certification in the Red Cross Nurse Assistant Training (NAT) program; primary responsibility includes planning, teaching and evaluating course participants in the classroom and clinical skills performance, leading to successful completion of the program. The instructor will provide a quality program that meets state regulations and compliance standards as well as meet the expectations for the course participants. Major Duties and Responsibilities: * Plans, coordinates, manages and directs the classroom, skills lab, and clinical setting training experience for students * Evaluates interpersonal skills, technical skills, and knowledge base of students in classroom, skill lab and clinical setting at regular intervals to measure student performance * Maintains confidential, accurate and complete records and reports as required by state and federal regulations and American Red Cross policy * Responsible for efficient and effective use of all supplies and materials maintaining appropriate controls for loss reduction and documenting replacement needs * Maintains a cooperative working relationship with clinical sites and staff to provide a comprehensive and safe learning environment for students * Completes and submits course records and reports in a timely manner, meeting required deadlines. * Meets 100% compliance for record keeping and program delivery requirements * Engages in regular effective communications with students, staff, and other stakeholders regarding programmatic changes and quality management issues. * Supports program completion activities such as graduation, recognition ceremonies and student development activities as requested * Remains current on state regulations and training standards Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Ability to successfully complete appropriate instructor training as required by American Red Cross and the state. Experience with adult education preferred. * Excellent written and oral communication skills Qualifications: * Current license as a nurse in state where teaching will occur; RN/BSN preferred.
