Description

Oversees NDT department and performs NDT processes of Computed Radiography and Penetrant inspections, including process checks, part preparation/evaluation, and drawing/specification interpretation. Conducts process development, and product/process audits, including inspector training, qualification and certification processes, or other delegated duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes inspection requirements per customer process requirements, including but not limited to purchase orders, drawings, specifications, etc.

  • Responsible for assuring the proper sequences of the process before processing hardware.

  • Responsible for procedure development (including techniques, schedule, etc., as applicable), approval, and continuous development.

  • Responsible for creation and upkeep of NDT procedures, and process control records. Evaluate and document process changes and obtain customer approval when required.

  • Performs process audits, including NDT processes, products, equipment, and relevant records.

  • Prepares for and supports regulatory or customer audits.

  • Obtains customer-specific examinations and certifications when required.

  • Supports production with any technical issues related to the process, including performing independent verification or witnessing the performance of independent verification.

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of other NDT inspection methodologies.

  • Be capable of providing or directing training, examination, and certification of Computed Radiography and Penetrant personnel.

  • Process owner of part washing process, and vision and hearing testing scope and administration.

  • Analyzes and interprets manufacturing sketches, routings, product specifications, and quality requirements.

  • Follows established procedures to verify specified dimensions of product or material using a variety of standard inspection tools.

  • Creates work instructions and makes recommendations for process improvements.

  • Sets up, standardizes, and calibrates NDT equipment.

  • Prepares and processes parts through a Computed Radiography Inspection system and penetrant inspection, including final evaluation, makes accept/reject decisions, and completes documentation of results.

  • Successfully completes Level 3 certification examinations in accordance with Ace Precision's requirements.

  • In coordination with the Maintenance Department, performs preventive maintenance on all NDT equipment and processes.

  • Proceeds with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of and conformity with Ace Precision Quality System work instruction requirements that govern Computed Radiography Inspection operations.

  • Maintains or exceeds production standards through efficient organization and planning.

  • Follows and complies with safety policies and procedures.

  • Accurately completes all required documentation.

  • Meets attendance policy requirements.

  • Contributes to team effort by assisting in areas as needed.

  • Be capable of assuming technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee complaints and resolving problems with the assistance of Human Resources; maintaining positive employee-employer relations; and handling confidential employee issues with discretion.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily including being technically knowledgeable about equipment, procedure, and capabilities of the NDT processes. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Candidate must be certified to an NDT level 3 in accordance with NAS-410/EN-4179 in the applicable NDT methods of Penetrant Inspection and Computed Radiography or equivalent. Process experience must include working in the NDT processes, e.g. writing procedures/work instructions, developing process techniques, working as an operator, trouble shooting, including auditing the process.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read English, and interpret sketches, routings, product specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with employees and other Company stakeholders.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals and fractions.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Requires considerable initiative and decision making judgment.
