Positions: (2) NDSU Dickinson Research Extension Center (DREC) Student Internships

Application Deadline: May 1, 2023

Salary: $15/hr (40+ hours per week possible) plus housing

Start Date: May 15th with some flexibility based on student's schedule

The NDSU Dickinson Research Extension Center (DREC), located in and around Dickinson, ND is offering 2 paid student internships for the summer of 2023 for students studying and/or have an interest in livestock production, range and annual forage production and/or integrated systems. The DREC, established by the 1905 North Dakota Legislature, is a research location representative of the Missouri Plateau region.

Research and Extension programs consist of agronomy, livestock, integrated crop and livestock systems, rangeland and horticulture. The 2023 internships will run from approximately May 15th to August 20th with flexible start/end dates that depend upon the students' schedules. Students completing these internships will be supported if they wish to use the experience for college credits toward their degree requirements. Housing would be available if needed.

Interns will be required to assist with animal husbandry and production as well as range and annual forage production and will be involved with data collection on various projects currently being conducted by the DREC. Interns will also assist with the day to day needs of the DREC ranch. Every effort will be made to ensure that the interns learn new areas of agricultural production and skills.

Applicant Qualifications:

  • Work with cattle and other livestock

  • Use various types of farm equipment

  • Be outside for long periods of time

  • Work both independently and as a team member

  • Use various types of software and computer equipment

  • Have a valid driver's license

  • Be at least 18 years of age

Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm with a minimum of a 30 minute lunch break. Interns will be required to check in/out each day using the NDSU HRMS web clock.
