NDE Technician - Level II - Plaquemine, LA

Turner Specialty Services, L. L. C. is looking for experienced NDE Technicians - Level II for work in the Plaquemine, LA area. Required duties are associated with NDE of materials in accordance to referencing code. Must be able to be certified in Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT) and Liquide Penetrant Testing (PT), at a minimum. If you do not currently hold the certification, you must show certificate from classroom training and required field experience.

• Must be certified in UTT and PT

• Per diem is not available for this position, local candidates preferred

• Must have valid drivers license

• Must have TWIC card

• Documentation needed: NDE classroom training records, OJT hours, past certifications and resume

Qualification Standards:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills

• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation

Functional Requirements:

• Set up and utilize nondestructive testing equipment

• Calibrate nondestructive testing equipment

• Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection

• Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations

• Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results

• Interpret radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters and visual indicators

• Organize and report test results

Physical Involvement:

May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing / sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; typing / data entry; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment

Work Environment Factors:

• Location: industrial maintenance and construction sites and/or office environment

• Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low and/or high elevations; work performed in confined areas

• Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominantly indoor/outdoor climate; may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc.; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances
