Position summary:

The NDE Technician is responsible for assisting with all phases in the execution of specific inspection jobs, including, but not limited to, the pre-job, on-job and post-job responsibilities. Phases of these inspection jobs will be carried out from their base location and on customer's job sites using state-of-the-art visual, laser based and advanced automated ultrasonic inspection equipment. Performing work in compliance with company and client safety and quality requirements.

Essential duties:

  • Comply with company and client safety rules and regulations

  • Interpret and apply applicable procedures associated with inspection methods

  • Set up and calibrate equipment

  • Conduct tests with appropriate NDE technicque to affirm or negate anomalies on pipeline and equipment

  • Interpret, evaluate and document results

  • Perform equipment maintenance

  • Assists with ongoing training activities

  • Performs quality control functions

  • Additional projects and duties as assigned.

Working Environment:

  • Industrial/Plant

Educational requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Recent military service with mechanical, instrument, electrical or computer application training and experience; or two (2) years' experience in an Apprentice Program; or trade school certification in an industrial related field; or a similar Associates Degree; and three (3) or more years' experience in pipeline integrity NDE inspection

Skills and experience:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • ASNT Level II ultrasonic and magnetic particle certifications preferred. (Must be able to achieve certifications for ASNT Level II in Ultrasonics and Magnetic Particle. at ASNT Level II

  • Working knowledge of computer programs (Work, Excel etc) and ability to research code requirements

  • Ability to Prioritize and complete work assignments by deadline

  • Ability to communicate with customers, supervision and co-workers

  • Phased array ultrasonic (PAUT), automated ultrasonic (AUT), Creaform 3D scanning, optical emission spectrometry (OES), instrumented indentation technique (IIT) experience strongly desired

  • Eddy current (ET) experience, is a plus

  • Coating inspection experience (NACE)

  • API 1169, QUTE, QUSE, and/or QUPA Certification

  • AWS CWI .
