Overview

General Accountability:

Level II certified in RT, MT, PT experienced in Non-Destructive Examination methods including (MT) Magnetic Particle (PT) Liquid Penetrant (RT) Radiography and other industrial inspection methods with the ability to be dispatched on most job applications commonly requested by ALS.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up / tear-down of equipment;

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, calibrations and overall equipment and upkeep at jobsite;

  • Conduct examinations with appropriate NDE technique;

  • Interpret, evaluate, and document results;

  • Direct and train assistants and/or Level-I personnel.

Qualifications

  • Must be familiar with the scope and limitations of the method in which certified and be able to perform job duties with little or no assistance;

  • Must possess a current Radiographer card as a trainer with the State of Pennsylvania or reciprocal state such as Texas;

  • Must be familiar with the codes, standards and other contractual project documents;

  • Must be computer literate (i.e., Microsoft Word and Excel);

  • Ability to complete required reports for both technical and radiation safety;

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment;

  • Understanding and proper use of basic hand tools at a construction site;

  • Ability to speak and hear clearly while communicating with staff, management and clients;

  • High school graduate or equivalent;

  • Current NDE Level II Certification in at least 1 minor methods (MT, PT, UTT) and meet the minimum requirements for a Level I in RT. Must have copies of all certifications.

  • Possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record;

  • Must possess a certificate from 40hours of Radiation Safety;

  • Able to pass an FBI background check, drug/alcohol test and other pre-employment testing;

  • Preferably already possess a TWIC card and valid passport;

  • Must have nights, weekends and in town as well as out of town availability.

Work Conditions:

The job is subject to various weather conditions both inside and outside environments in various industries such as nuclear site, petrochemical and oil refineries. There may be some confined spaces work and working at heights. Conditions are often very hot and dirty.

Physical Demands:

Must be in good physical condition to deal with the stress of working under the adverse work conditions described above. Candidate cannot have a fear of heights or tight spaces. Physical and visual activities include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stepping, crawling, reaching, twisting, bending, handling, and laying on back as needed. Duties often include carrying heavy equipment (>50 lbs) far distances, up, and down multiple flights of stairs. Must be able to support own weight in roped safety harness. Able to work 40-60 hours a week. May be required to drive a company vehicle pulling a trailer to and from job sites.

RT Level I – Shell Pennsylvania Chemicals near Monaca, Pennsylvania POSITION SUMMARY Carrying out routine non-destructive testing for which the individual is appropriately qualified and experienced in a competent and professional manner and communicating the results in a way that meets the needs of the client and ALS Industrial Division. Seeking out opportunities for improving the business and providing service of a high standard. Technician will likely operate as part of a two-person team with another Level I or Level II RT technician. When not performing RT technician will be expected to perform MT, PT, UT Thickness, or PMI. Responsibilities Performance Inputs The NDT role involves a commitment to attain the skills and experience to undertake work in a wide range of environments. It requires a commitment to gain knowledge of applicable standards and codes and manufacturing processes. Test results are often a result of interpretation and therefore experience gained will become an important attribute. The job involves working alongside, and taking direction from, experienced technicians. Much of the work is out of hours, required at short notice and away from home. Performance Outputs To carry out NDT activities in a reliable and competent manner in accordance with documented procedures. To provide our clients with a high level of service in all aspects of the job. Key Result Areas * Safety, with particular emphasis on radiation safety. * Completion of testing in accordance with code and procedure requirements. * Assisting with accurate and prompt reporting of test results and details. * Equipment maintenance. * Client service. * Business improvement through identification of opportunities for better ways of delivering our services. * Personal development of skills and competencies. Performance Standards * No radiation incidents. No injuries. * Compliance with codes, procedures and our operating system. * Assist with completion of reports prior to commencing next job. No report reissues as a result of inaccurate or insufficient detail. * Equipment maintained in clean and work- like condition. Malfunctions or problems promptly reported to supervisor for attention. * Responding to client time frames and requirements in a timely and courteous manner. Getting reports drafted promptly for review. * Advising manager or supervisor of ideas for improvement or opportunities. * Having a plan for personal development and implementing it. * Job can be very physical at times. Must be able to pick up 50 lbs and lift overhead. Must be able to walk 300 meters while carrying 50 lbs of gear. Must also be able to climb stairs 10 or more stories with gear. * Must be able to work in extreme temperature conditions and be comfortable working at height and in confined spaces. Qualifications * Welding, Engineering, Mechanical or Trade background preferable. * Level I RT in accordance with SNT-TC-1A * Level II in MT, PT, UT Thickness in accordance with SNT-TC-1A * State Card * Have a valid driver's license. * Possess or be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
