The NC Programmer/Manufacturing Engineer will develop and implement safe and reliable machining process solutions which include specification of tooling, writing NC programs, and performing training mainly for the Schenectady Rotor / Field Machine shop and Large Machining Shop production workscope and schedule.
As the NC Programmer / Manufacturing Engineer you will:
Code and develop NC Programs for use on Lathes, HBM's, NC Machine Centers, Field Slotters, and other NC driven equipment
Learn the software tools used in Schenectady for program creation and validation, such as APT, Vericut, Mastercam as needed for tasks
Work with industry tooling engineers to specify and procure safe and reliable tooling on a timely basis in support of the production schedules
Develop and revise tooling and NC programs in support of cycle and cost out initiatives, geared at working in team approach with machinists to improve processes on a regular meeting rhythm
Assist in capital improvement projects geared towards identifying machine deficiencies and working individually or in team to solve these issues
Assist and work with other programmers to ensure programs, tooling and planning paperwork are available on time for start of jobs
Develop training materials and plans as needed in support of work packages
Establish, document, and maintain design for manufacturing (DFM) guidelines for engineering use compatible with current manufacturing capability
Evaluate new products for manufacturability per established DFM guidelines
Initiate and project manage capital equipment projects that support new product designs, factory capacity additions, and quality improvement goals
Implement operator training plans
Apply lean methods to equipment and material handling designs to reduce waste throughout the production process
Support plant lean and EHS initiatives
Troubleshoot issues with equipment and processes
years working in a manufacturing environment)
Hands on experience with CAD and Solid Modeling
Hands on experience using CAM software with machine centers
Knowledge of APT
Knowledge of G Code Programming
Hands on experience with Fanuc machine controllers
Ability to read drawings. Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Tolerancing Standards
Strong knowledge and significant experience working in NC programming, machining and related planning.
Good oral and written communication skills, and organization ability.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
