NC Campus Engagement VISTA Leader 2024-2025

NOTE: The AmeriCorps VISTA leaders program is open to members who have completed at least one year of full-time service with AmeriCorps or Peace Corps.

Placement for this position starts in late October of 2024. North Carolina Campus Engagement (NCCE) seeks to host a VISTA Leader to lead a 14 member cohort of VISTA members serving in the NC Afterschool Corps and NC Hunger Corps located across the state of North Carolina. The VISTA Leader will serve in the state office of NCCE (located on the campus of Elon University), a collaborative network of colleges and universities committed to educating students for civic and social responsibility, partnering with communities for positive change, and strengthening democracy). NCCE currently sponsors the NC Afterschool Corps and NC Hunger Corps which provides opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA members to build the capacity of afterschool programs or food security programs at the intersection of higher education and community engagement.

Most NCCE VISTAs serve at college and university host sites across the state, though some do serve at community organization host sites. For this VISTA Leader position, there will be a focus on activities related to developing trainings for VISTA Members, alumni engagement efforts and event planning, recruitment planning and marketing, and online presence engagement (i.e. working with social media platforms to expand the programs VISTA reach). Leader duties include activities such as planning and running cohort meetings and trainings, mentoring other VISTAs on how to complete items such as monthly reports and professional development activities, regularly meeting with new members to offer AmeriCorps and NCCE programming support, participate and help to run new member orientation, and standardize social media presence and alumni engagement efforts. As a VISTA Leader, you will ensure the success of a 14 member VISTA cohort that engage with Hunger Corps and Afterschool Corps. VISTA Leader projects will include: 1. Coordinate, develop, and implement professional development opportunities for cohort members 2.

Lead aspects of program communication including developing social media strategies, blog posts, and VISTA outreach. 3. Provide collaborative support to VISTAs and host sites to ensure project success and service year satisfaction including two cohort trainings during the year. 5. Serve an integral role in the VISTA recruitment process. 6. Foster and maintain consistent outreach with VISTA alumni, create opportunities for alumni engagement with current service members, and coordinate the alumni engagement events.
