Job Description: The Marine Pipefitter fits various pipe and components together according to layouts, blueprints or work specifications, using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment.
Applicants must have general knowledge of NAVSEA Standards Items, MIL-STD-777, 4E Specification, NAVSEA Drawings & marine piping systems. They must be able to follow oral and written instructions. They must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Work is performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations requiring the ability to work in areas with drafts, noise, and temperature variation.
Must be able to work in high heat spaces, confined spaces (tanks/ voids), at heights, climb shipyard, shipboard stairs/ladders, and lift up to 40 pounds. Attention to safety critical.
Position requires a High School Diploma OR Equivalent and a minimum of 5-7 years of Marine pipefitting experience
Applicant must be willing to work second or thirds shift as needed
Applicant also must be willing to work more than 40 hours work weeks
Applicant must successfully undergo a background investigation
Applicant must be willing to supervise piping contracts onboard US Naval Vessels
Applicant must have a clear understanding of Shipboard Work Authorization Form (WAF) in support of Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
Applicants must be able to provide production status updates using Microsoft Office Suite.
This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens
Travel may be required. Applicant must be willing to travel to various work sites such as Virginia Beach VA, Bremerton WA, Everett WA, Pearl Harbor HI, and Yokosuka Japan Secret #clearance
