Job Title: Regional Manager

Job Status: Full-Time

Location: Pennington, NJ

Job Summary:

Lead and direct all aspects of Northfield's daily operations, goals and accomplishments for an assigned branch network to ensure they are in line with the overall mission and vision of Northfield Bank and compliant with applicable laws and regulations. Responsible for the oversight of developing and expanding relationships with both new and existing customers in order to grow the business within assigned branch network.

Essential Responsibilities:

Coaching/Mentoring:

  • Lead performance management process for staff, including providing ongoing coaching and feedback, completing performance evaluations and proactively addressing performance issues.

  • Provide team with appropriate leadership, mentoring, guidance, and advocacy to ensure its long-term success.

  • Attract, maintain and develop top talent.

  • Promote culture of continuous learning at all levels to reduce skills gaps and promote employee development.

  • Clearly communicate expectations of job performance and hold staff accountable for performing against expectations and goals.

Branch Operations:

  • Responsible for management of assigned branch network and all related retail activity, as well as, business development.

  • Direct Branch Management to ensure daily operations of branch network run efficiently and that branch staff provide exceptional customer service and error-free transaction processing.

  • Oversee implementation of retail policies, products and strategies that are in alignment with the direction of the organization.

  • Conduct in-depth business reviews to identify inefficiencies and improve upon productivity.

  • Support and promote sales and marketing campaigns and initiatives throughout branch network.

Compliance:

  • Instruct all staff to operate in accordance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, applicable laws, regulations and guidelines.

  • Ensure own actions are compliant with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, applicable laws, regulations and guidelines.

  • Oversee periodic branch audits to ensure adherence to laws, regulations and guidelines.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop short-term and long-term business plans and strategies for future development and growth, make recommendations to executive management, and execute on approved plans and strategies.

  • Analyze industry dynamics, trends and opportunities within current market, as well as, new and adjacent markets and adjust business plans and strategies accordingly.

  • Lead efforts to drive new business growth in new and adjacent markets.

Goal Achievement:

  • Facilitate the established goals and performance criteria for branch management with objective of deposit and fee income growth and monitor performance against those goals. Actively coach Branch Managers to drive business results and achieve financial success.

  • Responsible for attaining established regional and Bank goals through active participation in business development and sales management.

  • Partner closely with Business Development Officers (BDOs) to foster new business relationships while also retaining and expanding current business relationships to contribute to overall achievement of goals. Promote same level of partnership between Branch Managers and BDOs.

Community Focus:

  • Active involvement in community-based organizations to support local businesses, increase Northfield's presence in the area and to network and potentially expand potential customer base. Encourage staff to operate with the same level of active involvement.

  • Volunteer and hold leadership positions within community-based organizations and represent Northfield at community-based events (e.g., luncheons and dinners).

Strategic Partnerships and Relationship Management:

  • Branch Liaison and Deposit Operations
  • Partner with these areas to answer any operations-related questions that may come from branches or customers.
  • BSA/Security
  • Partner with BSA/Security to promptly research and resolve any potential fraud/security concerns that are identified.
  • Lending
  • Actively partner with Lending to identify and target strategic opportunities to bring in new business or expand existing relationships and contribute to overall success of the organization.
  • Marketing
  • Partner with Marketing to ensure product development is aligned with the company's growth strategy and that advertising campaigns and promotional items deliver intended results.
  • Human Resources
  • Partner with Human Resources to address needs or concerns related to staffing, employment decisions, talent management, training, performance management, disciplinary actions, compensation, payroll, etc.
  • Will require routine travel throughout defined market for business calls, business meetings, training and community events.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • Use of personal vehicle may be necessary to conduct business.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, finance or related field preferred

  • 10+ years' banking experience, both in branch management and business development areas, with strong focus on sales and operations required

  • 10+ years' advanced knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, ability to interpret the laws and regulations and communicate information, as appropriate required

  • 10+ years' solid knowledge of industry, financial markets and economic trends required

  • 10+ years' sales management experience coupled with proven track record of growing sales required. Demonstrated ability to identify, create and develop new business opportunities.

  • 3+ years' experience in leading and managing sales teams in relation to sales, service and operational models required. Ability to coach and mentor staff.

  • Sound business judgment and accountable decision-making required

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to manage complex projects required

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Strong presentation skills in both individual and group settings.

  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills (particularly Word, Excel & Outlook) required
