LOOKING FOR: The Engineering Services Directorate (ESD) of AMERICAN SYSTEMS has an immediate opening for a Naval Subject Matter Expert (SME)/Program/Project Manager to provide Electronic Systems Carry-on SME expertise supporting the Alteration Installation Team (AIT). We are seeking a mission-driven SME with an active secret clearance to become an integral part of our team. The candidate will be responsible for technical support of the program across all submarine platforms sitting in Norwich, CT.

A week in the life of a Navy Program Manager

  • Electronic Systems:
  • Provide leadership, management, and technical services to support production, installation and shipboard drawings; Environmental Qualification Testing; laboratory and facilities; mechanical and electrical fabrication of parts, prototypes, lab installation kits and test fixtures.

  • Perform drawing reviews, attend meetings, work with system design engineers and designer/drafters and Alteration Installation Teams.

  • Coordinate and communicate complex timelines with government sponsors and recommend alternative engineered solutions and corrective actions.

Job Requirements

  • Active Secret Clearance.

At least 10+ years of experience in:

  • Submarine Non-Propulsion Electronics systems installations

  • Proficient with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, and Outlook).

  • Excellent problem solving, communications, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to develop technical solutions to difficult problems.

  • Highly motivated, self-starter and team player with a high energy level and willingness to aggressively take on responsibility.

VIEW JOBS 9/28/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-12-27T00:00 Reports To: Director of Distribution Class: Exempt Summary of Responsibilities: Responsible for cost effective, efficient processing of inbound goods including receipt, inspection, kit assembly, as well as, any order processing and shipping requirements from the S&S satellite distribution center. Primary Duties: * Directs supervisory staff for multiple business units within the Norwich facility. Responsible for associate performance management and annual review process. Assists upper management in planning and managing staffing levels based upon sales projections and performance. Responsible for the daily management and security of the Norwich warehouse. * Plans, organizes and controls processing/assembly requirements through coordination and cooperation with Purchasing/Planning to determine and facilitate the assignment, set-up and processing of requirements within customer driven timeframes. * Communicates and coordinates with partners within multiple business units to ensure that all requirements across multiple platforms are balanced and a high level of customer service satisfaction is maintained. * Manages relationships with outside processing organizations and determines usage based upon plan and need. * Ensures that high levels of quality are maintained within processes and that inventory accuracy and utilization are controlled. * Researches, recommends and implements methods of improving productivity, cost effectiveness and quality of product and process for both internal and external operations * Develops standards of operation for functions, monitors adherence to standards. * Analyzes and monitors inbound processing costs; recommends and implements changes. * Prepares, submits and implements annual expense budget, labor costs, manpower requirements for managed departments. * Develops and improves policies and procedures related to processing and supportive distribution activities. Ensures that related training programs are developed and implemented. Engages in any directed company process improvement projects and activities. * Sets productivity goals and manages output and job completion. * Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment following all legal and company guidelines. Communicates effectively with facility services department or outside vendor to ensure that any state of disrepair is remedied promptly. Qualifications: * College Degree in supply chain preferred * Minimum 7 years supply chain experience * Knowledge and experience of production control methods, techniques and standards along with an understanding with standard distribution methods and processes.. * Experience with Excel and ERP/WMS systems in practical business settings * Strong math capabilities and logical process orientation * Ability to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions; able to set priorities and manage multiple responsibilities; good time management skills * Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of operation * Proven ability to work under pressure * Must have knowledge of personnel practices, labor laws, EPA, OSHA, Fire/Safety regulations with regulatory compliance Key Measurements: * Adherence to establish deadlines, inventory and shipment accuracy, process waste control, budget cost control, vendor compliance requirements and productivity standards. * Well-trained & efficient staff; Good safety record * Clear, documented procedures communicated to staff * Increased annual productivity without an increase in staffing * Recommends ideas for improved operations productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness Note: While efforts have been made to insure the accuracy of this position description, it is not warranted to be an exhaustive recitation of all position duties; the incumbent may be required to perform duties beyond those listed above.
