BAE Systems is seeking a Calibration Technician to be part of our dynamic team located at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC), in Wallops Island, VA. The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of the NASA's Wallops Flight Facility.
SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.
This position is controlled by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Candidate will be required to perform routine calibrations of low to mid-level instruments in the calibration laboratory and where necessary within the facility. The calibration disciplines cover the areas of force, pressure, temperature, humidity, accelerometry, noise, vibration, DC & low frequency, microwave and RF.
Technicians will also perform equipment maintenance as necessary and participate in internal audits and proficiency testing. Must be able to read and understand technical manuals, prints and electrical/electronic symbols. Must have knowledge of calibrating physical/mechanical and electrical/electronic equipment. Should be proficient in working onsite with installed ship board systems and have basic knowledge in METCAL and Measure Interactive Query system (MIQ) systems.
