Oasis Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Navy AN/SPS-73 Radar Technician located in Virginia Beach, VA. Provinding technical support on AN/SPS-73 and other navigation radar systems.

LOCATION: Virginia Beach, VA

JOB STATUS: Full Time

TRAVEL: Less than 10%

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Practical experience maintaining and troubleshooting shipboard radar systems in general (required) and AN/SPS-73 radar in particular (highly desired)

  • Practical experience with training, preventative maintenance, use of technical documentation, parts support, technical reports and documenting maintenance and troubleshooting activities.

  • Familiar with shipboard safety procedures including electrical safety, electrical tag-outs, working aloft procedures, hazardous material handling and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Working knowledge of Change Requests & Engineering Change Proposals.

  • Familiar with Navy Logistics Support elements including configuration management, onboard allowance and supply support.

  • Familiar with the US Navy installation planning process (desired).

  • Interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills

  • Personal computer skills (competent with MS Office applications).

EDUCATION: Associates Degree in technical field/technical certification/or SPS-73 Navy NEC

CERTIFICATIONS: N/A

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 4 years minimum experience required/ 5-10 years' experience preferred

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: US Citizens only

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The candidate will provide assistance to ships force in maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of the AN/SPS-73 radar. He/she will document results of maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution actions and provide distance support and/or shipboard troubleshooting for fleet CASREPs and requests for technical assistance. In addition, the candidate will perform the following functions:

  • Support engineering efforts related to design, testing and analysis of AN/SPS-73 radar upgrades or modifications

  • Support technical documentation upgrades or modifications required as a result of system improvements

  • Install Field Changes in accordance with Navy shipboard installation processes

  • Assist in the development of Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) and Ship Alteration Records (SAR), which reflect system installation plans and configurations

  • Prepare lab and classrooms spaces in support of radar upgrades (new acquisition and legacy systems) and modifications

  • Act as liaison with Regional Maintenance Centers to ensure proper processing of installation data and schedule requirements necessary for the unimpeded check-in processing of Alteration Installation Teams (AITs)

  • Perform post-installation System Operational Verification Test (SOVT) and On-the-Job Training (OJT)

QUALIFICATIONS: * Practical experience maintaining and troubleshooting shipboard air search radar systems (SPY-1, SPS-48, SPS-49) in general (required), LCS radars (SPS-75, SPS-77) in particular (highly desired) * Practical experience writing technical reports and documenting maintenance and troubleshooting activities. * Familiar with the US Navy installation planning process (desired). * Familiar with shipboard safety procedures including electrical tagouts, working aloft procedures, hazardous material handling and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) * Working knowledge of Change Requests & Engineering Change Proposals. * Familiar with Radar Logistics Support elements including configuration management, training, documentation, and supply support. * Familiar with the operation of the Navy Supply System and repair parts ordering. * Familiar with shipboard installation processes. * Interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills. * Personal computer skills (competent with MS Office applications).
