Engineering Technician II

ManTech is seeking a Engineering Technician V for the (NNSY) Norfolk Naval Ship Yard in Portsmouth VA. The NNSY maintains, monitors, and refines Class-wide and Individual-Ship Maintenance for the US Naval Forces, to ensure material readiness for the projected service life. They develop life-cycle strategies to address system upgrades, and fully implement the Class Maintenance Plan into each ship's maintenance schedule and availability planning process. NNSY is headquartered at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Performs a variety of complex engineering tasks of an analysis, design, or test nature in one or more of the company's product/service areas requiring strong technical skills in one or more software and/or hardware engineering disciplines. Plans, conducts, and may supervise research, development, or installation of products and systems in conformance with engineering design and customer specification. Participates on project teams and provides guidance to technical staff with specialized skills or is multi-skilled developed through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience

Minimum Requirements:

• 2+ Years of experience in operation, maintenance and repair of ship mechanical systems such as piping systems (i.e., fireman, chilled water, or HVAC), pumps, refrigeration systems, elevators (i.e. aircraft and weapons), compressed gas systems (i.e., LP and HP air), and hydraulic systems.

• High quality English, oral, written, and senior briefing skills.

• Requires High School Diploma

Preferred Requirements

• Knowledge of working with Naval databases

• Knowledge of the Navy Maintenance programs

• Interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills

Security Clearance Requirements:

• Must have and maintain an active secret clearance, or Interim Secret Clearance

• Candidate must be U.S. citizens

• Ability to obtain a Shipyard badge and Common Access Card (CAC) for unescorted entry to Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and activated access to the Shipyard computer network and Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI).

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to pass and maintain the physical requirements of a modified maritime physical.

• Must be able to balance, bend, lift up to 35 pounds, crouch, stretch, and kneel.

• Must be able to climb up to 10 flights of stairs regularly or Gang plants and galleys

• Cannot be afraid of confined spaces.

• Cannot be afraid of heights
