Job Summary

Conducts outreach to Public Water Systems (PWS) about compliance with and technical assistance available for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Lead and Copper rules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides outreach and technical assistance to public water systems about requirements of and compliance with TCEQ revised Lead and Copper rules.

  • Identifies PWSs in need of TCEQ financial, managerial, and technical (FMT) assistance and makes appropriate referrals.

  • Tracks and reports outreach activities and outcomes to management.

  • Assists the Lead and Copper Monitoring Team with reviewing and evaluating data and creating/reviewing/revising documents such as reports, correspondence, and standard operating procedures.

  • Performs other duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year experience in customer service or sales; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience communicating with the public about technical rules and regulations; public water systems and basis of corrosion control; and tracking outreach activities and outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Word and Excel; database entry; ability to learn TCEQ 30 TAC Chapter 290 rules related to lead and copper, including basis of corrosion control and TCEQ's databases.

  • Skill in organization; attention to details; supervising the work of others; reviewing and analyzing records; determining proper courses of action; and managing time and assignments to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with clients, customers, coworkers to gather information and/or explain policies and procedures; integrate complex concepts, procedures, and processes; exercise independent judgement and initiative with minimal supervision; mentor and train new staff as needed.

Other Requirements Working Conditions

  • Standard office environment.

  • Job activities include but not limited to sitting, standing, lifting, and carrying batches of paper up to 10 lbs. Infrequent travel (i.e., annually) for activities such as job skills training or participating in institutional and client meetings and conferences.

Special Conditions for Eligibility

  • UTA's need for this position is contingent upon a contract between UTA and an outside client.

  • Candidates should understand that continued placement with the client is dependent upon continued availability of funding and the successful candidate's conduct and performance.

  • The successful candidate's conduct and performance will be formally evaluated by UTA, and evaluations will be based on client satisfaction with the candidate's performance and conduct.
