City of Apple Valley is seeking a Natural Resources Coordinator in the Natural Resources Division of the Public Works Department.

General Duties: Responsible for development and implementation of programs to protect and restore natural resources located within the City of Apple Valley.

Plans, administers, and implements policies and activities intended to manage, preserve, and enhance the quality of the lakes, ponds, wetlands, and urban forest. Demonstrates and utilizes initiative and independence in completion of work responsibilities and supervision of staff.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday; Days. Exempt (not eligible for overtime compensation). Must be available and responsive for meetings and events outside business hours.

Pay Range: $94,053 - $117,544 annually, plus benefits. Starting rate dependent on qualifications.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, natural resources, forestry resources, or closely related field; three years of work experience and knowledge of forestry, arboriculture, or horticulture practices and principles and water resources management; ability to effectively use personal computers, including MS Office, Windows, and other departmental software; ability to use Geographic Information Systems and Enterprise Asset Management software; valid driver's license and excellent driving record; Minnesota Tree Inspector's License or must obtain within 12 months of appointment; effective communication and presentation skills and ability to coordinate and perform research, assembly of information, and preparation of detailed reports; ability to effectively direct, supervise, and train others; ability to use a variety of scientific field equipment applicable to natural resources activities; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with City staff, other agencies, volunteer groups, and residents; ability to maintain a positive professional manner while resolving citizen issues; ability to follow and promote safe work practices according to law, City policies and generally accepted safe work standards; and ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications: Additional work experience in the above-mentioned fields; supervisory experience; and certification from the International Society of Arboriculture as a Certified Arborist.
