resources, agronomy or related field of study

Duties:

Serve as a subject matter expert, technical advisor, and member of the Risk
Reduction Solutions Team

Recognized expert, program authority and principal advisor to Forest Service
leadership for an array of programs. Responsibility includes formulating
national policies, objectives, and standards for assigned programs; developing
long and short range plans to achieve these goals and objectives; ensuring
program and technical directives are consistent with governing laws,
regulations, and policy; and monitoring field implementation to ensure
compliance and consistency. 50%
Provide advice on relationship of major policy decisions and program
objectives on all proposals affecting policies and/or plans. Makes or suggest
modifications or adjustments in program proposals in order to obtain and ensure
coordination with overall policies and their integration with related Forest
Service program and activities. Ensures that program compliance activities are
managed according to established procedures and the results are used to improve
future operations. 25%
Seeks and builds public and private sector partnerships to promote effective
land and natural resources management and program opportunities. This includes
establishing guidelines for administering and managing national and regional
partnerships and participating on a national level in interagency efforts to
streamline partnership instruments that apply broadly across all land management
agencies. 15%
Serves as representative and spokesperson at conferences and various public,
interagency, and congressional meetings, and present briefings related to
assigned program. Work includes preparing technical and policy papers, speeches,
reports, testimony, and various types of correspondence regarding nationally
significant, emerging or controversial program policy issues; and communicating
with various members of the public, private firms, organizational leaders, and
Congressional staff as requir 10%

Overnight travel: 5 days/month
Air travel anticipated: 1-2 times/month
Rental cars: 1 time/month
