Headquartered in centrally located Chehalis, Washington, Alta operates fence board sawmills, reload facilities, and log yards in various Northwest rural communities, including Morton, Shelton, Amanda Park, Winlock in Washington, and Naples, Bonners Ferry, and Lewiston in Idaho.

The Role:

The National Retail Accounts Manager role at Alta Forest Products involves developing and managing retail relationships to drive sales and market share growth, particularly with Big Box retailers. The role requires implementing sales and marketing strategies, optimizing operational processes, and representing the organization as a brand ambassador. The ideal candidate should have significant sales experience, preferably in consumer products to national accounts, and strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Additionally, the ability to travel and demonstrate a track record of achieving sales targets is essential for this role. Responsibilities:

  • Own and be responsible for daily operations with Big Box retailers.

  • Increase revenue through the implementation of sales and marketing strategies.

  • Establish, maintain, and optimize operational processes to ensure superior customer experience and satisfaction.

  • Learn and gain proficiency in operating systems, including Infor M3 and retailer systems like Vendor Drill, Askuity, IDM, etc.

  • Represent Alta Forest Products as a knowledgeable, professional, and respected brand ambassador, embodying the image and values of the organization.

  • Monitor and measure the performance of retailers against sales targets.

  • Plan and communicate inventory movements to ensure 98% fill rates.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work with and leverage technology to enhance effectiveness in a sales role

  • Understand pricing and retail financial models

  • MBA degree preferred

  • Strong drive for results and meeting deadlines

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional sales experience, preferably from consumer products to national accounts.

  • Previous management experience in home improvement, construction, or related fields with direct reports.

  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including attending annual conventions and sales meetings.

  • Must demonstrate past successes in national account sales and business growth.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, nonverbal, and presentation); able to convey strong, clear messages to target. audiences of all sizes, including co-workers, leadership, customers, and industry groups.

  • Demonstrated planning, time management, and organizational skills.

  • Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills at multiple levels.

  • Skills to manage ambiguity and lead change.

  • Proven track record of working toward KPIs and achieving targets.

  • Hands-on experience with CRM software.

  • Must have strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • Capability to maintain confidentiality in all mandated assignments.

  • Ability to relate to and interact with staff and external customers.

  • Proficient working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Competence to lead and guide other (new/inexperienced) staff in the relevant specialty area.

  • Must be able to work effectively in a team.

Work Environment

This role will operate in a professional office, sawmills, customer offices, and networking events. While performing the duties of this job, employees may occasionally be exposed to machinery and moving mechanical parts. This position may be exposed to noise, hazards, airborne particulates, and temperature changes in both indoor and outdoor weather conditions.

Position Type/Travel/Schedule

This position is exempt per FLSA guidelines and not eligible for overtime. A typical schedule requires the ability to work 40 hours a week. Flexibility to work evenings or weekends to accommodate critical goals and objectives may be necessary. Travel for this position may be required as work demands up to 50%.
