Job Description Job Description Utilities One is seeking an experienced National Manager of Underground Construction to lead, manage, and oversee all underground construction operations nationwide . This role requires a strategic and hands-on leader who can ensure high-quality execution, compliance with safety standards, and efficient project delivery. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in underground telecom construction, leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive operational excellence across multiple markets.
Responsibilities Develop and implement strategic plans for underground telecom construction projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and project execution; Oversee the end-to-end construction process, including excavation, conduit placement, underground fiber optic cable installation, and restoration; Ensure compliance with safety regulations, local permitting requirements, and industry standards; Lead, manage, and mentor regional project managers, field crews, and subcontractors to ensure timely and high-quality project completion; Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, contractors, and external partners to support operational goals; Monitor project timelines, budgets, and quality control measures to meet company objectives; Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and operations, to optimize workflow efficiency; Identify and implement best practices, process improvements, and innovative construction methodologies; Provide regular reports to executive leadership on project progress, challenges, and key performance indicators; Address and resolve technical and operational issues impacting project completion. Requirements Minimum 5 years of experience in underground telecom construction, infrastructure deployment; Strong knowledge of underground construction, excavation, and permitting processes; Proven leadership experience managing large-scale, multi-location projects and teams; Familiarity with telecom network infrastructure, industry standards, and best practices; Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory agencies; Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a proactive and results-driven mindset; Experience working with construction management software, project tracking tools, and reporting systems; Must be located or willing to relocate to Washington, Oregon, Texas, Missouri; Willingness to travel as needed to project sites across multiple states.
