As a National Health & Safety Consultant, you will work with leaders and their teams directly to define and implement health and safety initiatives aligned with annual business plans.
This role focuses primarily on:
Lead and develop the Health & Safety Programs and Strategy
Health & Safety Management Systems - CSA Z45001 - building sustainable management systems
Development - increasing the capabilities of Health & Safety team, corporate and restaurant leaders
Compliance - supporting implementation of the Health and Safety Programs for compliance, interacting with regulatory authorities

Principal Accountabilities: In addition to following McDonald's policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead, direct and develop the Health & Safety Programs and Strategy; engage the organization in developing safety objectives and tactics, monitor actions and accomplishments that will eliminate or reduce the risk of a workplace injury or illness.
Build and prepare the annual Health & Safety plans and initiatives for restaurant/offices.
Direct the development, implementation, communication, and management of programs, processes, and policies in order to ensure compliance of legislative requirements.
Support Operation consultants/managers/franchisees with the implementation of Health & Safety management systems.
Prepare and present applicable recommendations, status updates, business cases and reports regarding projects and initiatives to key stakeholders.
Ensure all safety KPIs meet or exceed OHS policies, procedures and programs.
Provide expert education and counsel on new and existing OHS Acts and Regulations.
Provide leadership in the effective management workers' compensation process including analysis and reconciliation of programs (ie: WSIB, WCB, CNESST, NEER, etc.).
Support regional Health & Safety specialists with investigations, identified root cause analysis and ensure appropriate & effective corrective measures are implemented on a timely manner.
Oversee various Health & Safety Audit program, surveys and reporting requirements.
Partner with key stakeholders (Operations, Legal, TLD, , HR, etc.) in all areas of the business to ensure standards are met, taking corrective action as required to close any gaps.
Ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted and follow up implemented to minimize or eliminate accidents and asset losses that might cause harm to employees, contractors, or visitors.
Liaise with legislative bodies and other agencies associated with health and safety including but not limited to OHS, MOL, WSIB, etc.
Manage the Health & Safety Specialists by training, coaching, conducting performance reviews, establishing development needs, goals and priorities. Ensure the appropriate talent is in place through training, mentoring, and succession planning and support the development and learning capabilities of Safety specialists.
Drive an awareness of a safety-focused culture and ensure standards are well understood throughout the organization.
Use a "one team" mindset to collaborate and promote safety and business results with both corporate and franchise partners.
