Key Role Responsibilities

  • Travel
  • Must be willing to travel 25% or more on short notice throughout the entire Country (mainly Midwest and South Central regions).
  • Quantity Takeoffs
  • Utilizes OST, Revit and Bluebeam to perform Quantity Takeoffs.
  • Trade Partner Coordination
  • Builds strong relationships with Trade Partners and coordinates project information using SmartBid while setting up bid tabs.
  • Estimate Management
  • Compares and clearly communicates scope differences between iterations.
  • Estimate Preparation
  • Compiles estimate deliverable packages and assists in final preparations and presentations from concept to final GMP.
  • Scope and Cost Knowledge Base
  • Proactively asks questions to understand scope gaps and identifies the coordination of Trade Partners.
  • Preconstruction Project Review
  • Participates in preconstruction project reviews and processes.
  • Scopes of work
  • Completes bid package scopes of work for Trades and understands SOW development. Aligns Trade Partner proposals to SOW and reads and analyzes project documents.
  • Design Criteria
  • Possesses a basic knowledge of large cost drivers.

  • Performs quantity survey of materials shown on project plans.

  • Reads and outlines project specifications.

  • Maintains an audit trail of the quantity survey from estimate to estimate.

  • Supports vendor/subcontractor pricing/bid solicitation and coordination.

  • Supports the distribution of plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors.

  • Works collaboratively and creates relationships with a variety of stakeholders, such as project team members, subcontractors, vendors and clients.

  • Gains field operational exposure through onsite project support, as opportunities exist.

Preferred Experience

  • Structural and/or Civil Scope Management
  • Understand the various types of structural and envelope systems in order to compare, evaluate, establish and present estimates.
  • Target Value Delivery
  • Basic knowledge of Target Value Delivery process.
  • Schedule and Planning
  • Ability to ask the right questions in order to comprehend most major Trades and long lead items impacting project budget and schedules. Ability to coordinate with internal resources (Operations, Superintendents, PM's and Scheduling) in order to discuss durations and logistics.
  • Major systems
  • Understand documents and supplemental reports of items that may have cost or schedule impact on the project.
  • Constructability Review
  • Ability to understand and incorporate comments from constructability review into the project estimate.
  • Large project experience.


  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related field.

  • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.


  • 2+ years construction experience.

Summary: ABM Electrical Power Services' National Accounts team is searching for an experienced Sales Engineer professional to call on CEO's, building owners and upper level management throughout the local markets. The Sales Engineer targets the commercial, industrial, manufacturing and institutional markets with proactive, industry leading electrical Maintenance services that show our customers' bottom line cost savings in their facility operating budget while ensuring their power systems run reliably, optimally, sustainably, and at NFPA 70 standards. Essential Duties: * Responsible for new business development in the Electric Vehicle (EV) market. * Responsible for generating new prospects thru cold calling, networking with existing relationships, as well as company sponsored lead programs. * Analyze requests for quotations (RFQ), including commercial and technical specifications to develop effective, accurate and professional quotations. * Develop relationships with prospective clients that will allow you to demonstrate ABM's full breadth of services. * Attend meetings, seminars, trade shows, etc. to continue to increase knowledge of the EV industry. * Be the Subject Matter Expert on EV related to Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 & Level 4 charging by focusing on manufacturers and products available in the market. * Be the Subject Matter Expert on EV networks understanding the strengths and limitations of each available network. * Implement, use and maintain to manage sales pipeline, produce effective sales forecasts, and manage account management plan for assigned client/territory. * Demonstrate the ability to develop an annual personal sales plan including activity required to obtain annual plan. * Perform other duties as assigned. * Job duties may be modified at any time. * Regional travel (30-40%) Minimum Requirements * Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or other related engineering disciplines and/or the equivalent in years of directly related technical experience or training. * Track record of success in selling electrical preventive maintenance. * Minimum of five (5) years outside business to business sales experience selling a value-added service. * Proven track record and experience including consultative sales, new business development, meeting an annual revenue sales quota, identifying customer's budgets, and cost justification selling, required. * Must possess high volume cold calling experience as well as the drive needed to sell our service, required. * Service industry contract sales experience is helpful. * Must have technical aptitude with ability to be trained. * Must be consultative, have above average energy and work ethic, possess strong verbal & written communication skills, be money motivated, and competitive. * Strong computer proficiency and ability to work with various software programs (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Salesforce, etc.) ABM Austin TX
