Job Description

The National Director of Culinary Services ensures the successful preparation, delivery and presentation of the culinary experience for all Kisco Lifestyle communities. Supports the development, coaching and training of Dining Services Directors and dining associates to achieve the highest service levels and business results. Designs programs and standards necessary to achieve a best in class dining experience while meeting all state and federal mandates. The role also involves continuous innovation and re-evaluation of community-specific dining venues and programs to keep the company on the leading edge of current trends and best practices within the senior living and hospitality industry.

What will I do every day?

  • Develops and ensures implementation of standard operational procedures for the dining area and kitchen to achieve the desired experience by residents and guests• Develops and ensures implementation of wait staff training programs

  • Conduct operational reviews at all communities annually to ensure adherence to standards and identify areas for improvement.

  • Utilize monthly Key Performance Indicators to determine cost management needs, revenue opportunities, and leverage best practices.

  • Supports the development of new menu's, menu cycles, and signature recipes• Integrates The Art of Living Well℠ into the dining programs to promote the 6 dimensions of wellness and balanced nutrition • Supports menu customization for residents who may have special dietetic requirements such as caloric count, gluten free, sodium requirements and related requests• Reviews resident satisfaction with the dining program at all communities. Works with Executive Directors to support the community to develop action plans to improve satisfaction as needed, as well as sharing best practices across the organization• Supports the dining services budgeting process for all communities• Trains community leadership and staff on core dining programs and standards• Establishes, ensures implementation, and revises policies, procedures and performance standards, as required• Develops, ensures implementation of food service programs to meet/exceed annual dining services operating expenses and revenue goals • Supports revenue creation with alternate dining options, a la carte menu, point of sale, and catering• Supports the required state and federal guidelines for diets, weight management, and healthy eating• Assists in planning and opening of new communities• Assists Executive Directors in the sourcing, selection and onboarding of the dining services management staff and supports dining service staff hiring as needed • Conducts operational reviews at all communities on annual basis• Reviews the Leading Indicators monthly to determine cost management needs, revenue opportunities and leveraging best practices. Ensures accuracies with measurements to develop actionable steps• Supports the group purchasing effort and manages all vendor relationships with dining services• Supports the sustainability, remodeling and renovation process for dining and culinary areas to ensure achievement of sales, revenue, and satisfaction goals• Creates recognition opportunities for promotion, publicity, branding, and publication of programs such as Iron Chef, Signature Recipe Book to promote sales excellence and defining the culinary experience to current and future residents• Performs other duties as required

What will I need to be successful in this role?

  • College degree required. A Culinary degree required and a Certified Executive Chef (CEC) a plus.

  • A degree in hospitality management or similar is preferred.

  • Must have a minimum 7 years of experience in dining services management. Experience in senior living management preferred. Regional experience required.• Knowledge of HAACP policies and procedures.

  • Training experience highly desirable.

  • Excellent knowledge of computers and must have knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Must have thorough knowledge of all aspects of a dining services program and basic understanding of accounting and financial analysis. • Must have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in an environment with multiple priorities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to lead and manage others.

  • Must be highly organized with good business judgment.

  • Approaches all encounters with residents and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner.

Work Environment

This is a remote position that requires up to 50% travel to our communities Nationwide.

Must live in one of our California Markets or Raleigh North Carolina or be willing to relocate
