The responsibilities of the National Account Director (NAD) in Market Access & Account Management is to develop and manage business relationships through the development of productive business relationships as well as profitable contracts and programs. The primary customer/account responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Humana, Kaiser, BCBS Association, Federal Employer Plan, Emblem Health, Highmark, Health Alliance Plan (MI) and Medical Mutual of Ohio. The primary goal is to achieve desired formulary access and coverage decisions for the Organon products by identifying, understanding, and addressing customer needs at multiple levels given the complexity of national accounts to generate solutions that enhance the partnership.

The NAD participates in the development of, as well as evaluates and proposes, strategic marketing initiatives to strengthen mutual business opportunities and develops account-specific strategies and tactical plans to fully capitalize and develop the business. Also, responsible for monitoring & assessing account performance and integrates pull-through activities with the Sales organization as well as other extended account team members to maximize appropriate utilization of Organon products. In addition, integrates Senior Leadership into the overall business relationship and combines the National role with specific geographic responsibilities at the Regional levels, as required. Through these relationships, the NAD leads Organon 's efforts to maximize appropriate utilization of its portfolio while bringing resources and solutions to customers that contribute to better outcomes for patients. The NAD must develop broad and deep relationships across the Health Plan(s), Global Pharmaceutical Operations (GPOs), and Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs).

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Account/business planning (strategic and tactical) for the entire Organon portfolio of products (Women's Health, Fertility, Legacy Brands and Biosimilars) at a P&L level, by customer.

  • Negotiation and execution of pharmacy discount agreements and product contract offerings; individual account performance against strategic, financial and product access objectives.

  • Leads all account management efforts with assigned PBM, National Health Plan and GPO accounts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops short-term and long-term strategic account plans for assigned accounts.

  • Develops and executes the negotiation strategy to achieve profitable product access for priority brands.

  • Ensures the pull-through of National Account access positions to the aligned regional accounts.

  • Leads extended sales team to meet to drive appropriate utilization and achieve net revenue objectives with assigned customers.

  • Delivers on Forecasted Net Sales across the portfolio through management for assigned accounts.

  • Conducts routine business reviews to inform internal stakeholders on relevant updates for assigned accounts.

  • Provides external insights to inform the organization's profitable product access strategy.

  • Drives innovation to experiment and learn with novel customer and market strategies.

  • Ensures proper diligence on policy, legal, regulatory, and company compliance issues.

The NAD works collaboratively with internal stakeholders from Customer Contracting, and Business Unit Brand Marketing across Organon to ensure product access and availability to all our customers. The NAD be responsible for working with and through the Organon team of stakeholders to champion customer needs and opportunities internally. The NAD must have strong collaboration and communication skills to ensure local and regional pull through of nation product access opportunities through our Women's Health, Fertility, Legacy Brands and Biosimilars teams.

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS (PharmD, APRN, RN, MBA preferred).
Required Experience and Skills:
  • 5+ years of managed care account manager or equivalent experience is required, previous large/strategic account management role desired.

  • Contracting experience required.

  • Customer knowledge and/or national health plan knowledge.

  • Customer relationships desired.

  • Product/Disease knowledge in Women's Health and Biosimilars desired.

  • Problem solving skills.

  • Communication skills with executive presence.

  • Strong project management with experience coordinating broad cross functional teams.

  • Presentation and consultative selling skills.

  • Demonstrated successful negotiation skills.

  • Conflict resolution.

  • Strategic account planning.

  • Highly developed leadership skills.

  • Analytical capabilities.

  • Working knowledge: managed care operations, contracting strategy, healthcare systems structure and function.

  • Health care trends and policies.

Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Significant Financial Management, Sales Management, Account Management, and/or Marketing experience desired.
