SAIC is the sole provider of Systems and Software AssuranceServices to the NASA IV&V Program located in Fairmont, West Virginia. Atthe NASA IV&V Facility, we support NASA's IV&V Program, deliveringanalysis and verification & validation of safety-critical andmission-critical software for a number of important NASA programs, includingboth human and robotic exploration as well as earth and space sciencecollection platforms.

The successful candidate will learn to work independentlyand as a lead member of a team in one or more of these IV&V projects orother IV&V Program functional areas. Roles and Responsibilities will include assignment in onemore aspects of the IV&V Program needs listed below:

  • Perform full-lifecycle (i.e., Concept toDeployment) Independent Validation and Verification (IV&V) analyses toensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or productrequirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technicalconstraints

  • Perform IV&V analysis of system and softwarearchitecture, system and software requirements, software design, source code,and the developer's software integration, interface, formal verification andqualification, systems and software integration, and certification testproducts

  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis,detail trade studies, and requirements allocation and interface definitionstudies to evaluate compliance of software specifications with customerrequirements. Conducts software hazard analysis and risk assessment

  • Develop independent test plans, cases,procedures, and scripts and performs independent testing of safety-critical andmission-critical software systems to ensure the system will do what it is supposedto do, not do what it is not supposed to do, and will respond in a safe anddesired manner under adverse conditions

  • May lead small teams of analysts performingverification and validation analyses

  • Analyze effectiveness/efficiency of NASA programprocedures and processes and develops/recommends improvements

  • Prepare presentations, reports, research, andother contract deliverables related to IV&V analyses performed

  • Participate in Risk Management process as itrelates to execution of the IV&V Project and to the software developmentproject being evaluated by the IV&V team

  • Work is performed on-site in Governmentfacilities

  • Occasional travel may be required

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 9 years of experience with aBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, AerospaceEngineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or othersoftware-related engineering program, OR an additional 4 years of directlyrelated experience in lieu of degree

  • Working experience with all major aspects of thesoftware development life cycle (requirements, design, implementation, andtest)

  • Excellent writing and communication skills arerequired, and ability to interact well in group meeting/working environments.

  • Familiarity with software architecture, systemsengineering, software integration, and verification and validation.

  • Ability to assess software risk and identifyadverse conditions/off-nominal behaviors

  • Takes ownership of tasks and problems andprovides solutions

  • Maintains excellent rapport with all internaland external customers

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel,PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a PublicTrust Security Clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with NASA programsinvolving launch control, including knowledge of Command & DataHandling, Environmental Control Systems, Hypergols, Avionics, Flight Controls,Cryogenic/Propulsion, Electrical Power, Thermal Control, FDIR, Autonomous Systems, and Vehicle Health Management

  • Experience in assessing safety critical mission software

  • Prior IV&V and/or independent testexperience

  • Familiarity with Cybersecurity Assurance
