Position Title: Project Engineer II

Overview:The purpose of the Project Engineer position is to be an integral part of the engineering team providing services for the development of space-flight certified instruments to measure and characterize radiation environments for multiple programs including Advanced Exploration Systems (AES), Human Lander Systems (HLS), Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS), Gateway Phase 1 and 2, Exploration Extravehicular Activity (xEVA), and the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV). The candidate will support the design and test teams from initial concepts to final design including ideation, design and development, prototyping, testing and certification. This position requires the candidate to be well versed in the quality process for the development of controlled hardware, including the writing of Task Performance Sheets and disposition of Discrepancy Reports. This position will support the team in the acquisition and tracking of controlled parts through completion, development of controlled paperwork that transitions the design from piece parts to final assembly, the review and disposition of anomalies as those occur in the development process, the initiation and tracking of design changes as the solution matures, and consistent feedback and interfacing with project stakeholders. This position will require the candidate to be capable of reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings. This position will require the candidate to oversee and participate in hands on development activities. This position will require the candidate to demonstrate effective communication skills in working with the project, other project engineers, technical support staff and quality engineering personnel. This position is expected to participate in formal design reviews including the development of products and the formal out-brief.
Use project requirement documents and verification documents to develop assembly plans, test strategies/planning and produce test plans, test set-ups and procedures
Complete functional development, certification, acceptance, and interface testing of the hardware during the different stages of the project life cycles
Process hardware at Johnson Space Center
Interface with purchasing, quality, logistics, other HHPC stakeholders, and NASA stakeholders
Writing and dispositioning Task Performance Sheets and Discrepancy Reports
Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings
Complete functional, development, certification, acceptance, and interface testing
Will perform other duties and assignments as required
Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and the Company's safety policies/rules. Must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance plan, policies and procedures
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company
Responsible for completing all assigned training
Maintain Safety records and certifications
BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with at least 10 years of related experience
Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (MS Office tools)
Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
Able to work in a team environment
Ability to read and develop engineering drawings
Previous experience with configuration and data management processes
Able to develop and clearly communicate information to technical forum
Knowledge and experience with analog and digital circuitry
Familiarity and prior use of software tools for PWB/PWBA layouts
Prior experience in certifying flight hardware at Johnson Space Center
MS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with at least 10 years of related experience
Experience with Flight Hardware Development processes as outlined in EA-023
IVA/EVA flight hardware fabrication/assembly experience
Knowledge of JSC Engineering processes
