The purpose of this role is to lead the North-American Food Quality, Food Safety and Implementation team, in line with the Food Purpose and business strategic agenda. The role as custodian of Quality and Food Safety and is accountable for implementing and sustaining the Mars Quality Management Process in Food NA and accountable for the effective implementation of new products, processes and packaging.
Consistently communicate and explain Q&FS vision and strategy
Provide strategic and operational leadership and guidance to the Site R&D teams, External Manufacturing team and Regulatory Affairs for the Food segment in North-America.
Ownership and management of incidents and Quality deviations according to the internal standard (PRIMP), guiding business stakeholders on decisions. Being the R&D Crisis Management representative for Food North-America.
Ensure compliance to internal and external policies, quality standards, and legal requirements, more specifically drive compliance program against our Mars Global Quality Standards.
Build capability to ensure effective implementation of new products, processes and packaging through the Site R&D teams and External Manufacturing
Partner to the regional Food Supply Chain team to ensure supply and Quality deliver against the required objectives on a shared agenda
Close collaboration with the global segment Q&FS team to contribute to creation and review of standards and best practices
Build HPC Teams to drive engagement, develop capabilities and build a talent pipeline that can effectively implement the Food OGSM and Mars Quality Management Process
Context and Scope
Develops and aligns Global QMP priorities with the Global Segment Q&FS and Implementation Director and the Global Segment Q&FS Team
Deploys QMP priorities through the Site R&D and External manufacturing Teams , Direct Accountability for two sites (Greenville and Bolton) and the External Manufacturing portfolio with indirect accountability for the Brazil Food Site
Connects regional Q&FS supply chain priorities to site through S&OP+ process, is integrated into the regional Supply Chain Management Review process
Is part of the Technical Leadership Team to review and unlock technical challenges at the regional level or from site escalation
Is the representative of Quality and R&D for the NA Food Management Team
Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent BS degree or Masters degree
At least 6 years of working experience in Q&FS, R&D or technical leadership
Clear affinity with Quality, able to be ambassador for Mars 1st principle
Understands how to build collaborative relationships
Well-developed interpersonal skills
Fluent in English
Critical, Solutions Orientated Thinking
Proven track record of successfully working in and/or with a factory environment
Key functional competencies: PRIMP (product related incident management process), Quality Management Processes, Allergen management, Traceability, HACCP, GMP/GHP, Thermal processing, Food Safety - microbiology/chemical and physical risks knowledge
