Provides direct patient care while working under the supervision of a Nursing Supervisor utilizing skills as outlined in the scope of practice by the Department of Human Services Division of Facility Services.# High School diploma#or GED required.# Current Nursing Assistant Level I certification.# AHA CPR required.

CVT is an 18-bed acuity adaptable unit specializing cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, and management of Intra-aortic balloon pumps, and Impella devices.

Nurses develop strong assessment skills and become experts at managing drip titrations, chest tubes, and ventilators. With the acuity adaptable approach, nurses manage care of the patient requiring open heart surgery from admission through discharge. This setting provides for efficient patient care and strengthens the nurse/patient relationship. Nurse are required to obtain and maintain ACLS certification.
