The full salary range is: $68,052-$121,777. Work Schedule/Requirements:  Monday-Friday 8:00 am- 5:00 pm

Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:

Under the direction of the Sr. M/WBE Manager, the M/WBE Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing the City Council-adopted Greensboro Minority and Women's Business Enterprise Policy.  The M/WBE Policy seeks to enhance competition in City contracting and procurement opportunities for Minority and Women Business Enterprises (M/WBEs) in the City's Relevant Market.  Work involves collaboration with City departments and the diverse business community to communicate, educate, and engage stakeholders.    Work involves the exercise of initiative; ability to review, gather and analyze data; make sound business decisions based on the City's M/WBE Policy; and the ability to communicate effectively.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and supervise a team of staff dedicated to the MWBE program and initiatives.

  • Provide training, mentorship and professional development for the team.

  • Oversee daily operations and administration of the projects, activities and immediate staff.

  • Assist with office annual budget and resource development, as well as track spend vs. budget.

  • Assist with the development of outreach strategies for outreach to identify and recruit MWBE firms.

  • Organize workshops, seminars and networking events to promote the MWBE Opportunities.

  • Act as a liaison between MWBE firms and City Procurement Office.

  • Assist in creating and distributing City projects and/or procurement opportunities to the MWBE community.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of supplier diversity programs, preferably M/WBE Programs, laws and regulations, and policies and procedures; contracting and purchasing operations in governmental entities.

  • Demonstrated strong business and analytical skills including financial reporting, strategic planning and industry knowledge.

  • Able to analyze data and information and draw logical and objective conclusions; perform investigations; interpret and apply laws and regulations, policy and procedures.

  • Able to work well in a team environment.  Must have excellent written and presentation skills, and excellent people and communication skills needed for vendor relations and community involvement.  Must be able to communicate well both orally and in writing.

  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to diversity and inclusion and continual personal learning and growth.

  • Performs other work as required.

  • Some travel within the Relevant Marketplace (27 County) region required.

The position must also have strong understanding of MWBE certification processes and compliance requirements.  Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.  Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse environment.  Must have a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.

This job is Exempt and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 4 or more years of experience in procurement, supplier diversity, program management, construction industry, or marketing and communications, preferably in a government or large organizational setting

  • "OR" an equivalency of an Associate's Degree with 6 or more years of experience in procurement, supplier diversity, program management, construction industry, or marketing and communications, preferably in a government or large organizational setting

  • Experience with data analysis and report generation

  • Microsoft Office Software experience (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Valid Driver's License

An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, Building Construction, or a related field

  • Experience in community outreach and stakeholder engagement

  • Knowledge and/or experience with local, state, and federal MWBE policies and regulations

  • Certification in procurement or supplier diversity management

  • 4+ years of Supervisory experience
