Description/Responsibilities

  • Management and coordinating tax compliance work for our Asset Manager Mutual Fund practice. Oversight of individuals preparing and reviewing the following functions:

  • Fiscal & Excise tax provisions

  • Financial statement disclosures

  • Book vs tax adjustments including wash sales, reits, PFIC's, complex derivatives such as futures, options & swaps.

  • Periodic distribution calculations

  • Year end shareholder reporting support such as qualified dividend income, dividends received deductions and foreign tax credit.

  • Federal, state and local income and excise tax returns required by RIC.

  • Lead discussions with clients, public accounting firms and internal teams to develop production calendar and establish deliverable expectations throughout the year.

  • Participate in problem solving exercises including ability to identify and help solve client challenges.

  • Mentor & train Tax Administrators

  • Candidate will be lead multiple engagements

Qualifications

  • At least 8-10 years of mutual fund tax experience

  • BS/BA degree in accounting/finance

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office products

  • Thorough understand of accounting and tax concepts, practices and procedures required

  • Ability to independently problem solve and drive process efficiencies and standardization

Primary areas of responsibility include: * Work with Category VP to help develop category financial models, and plans for vendors in assigned categories to reduce the expense base * Engage in negotiations with suppliers to reduce the expense base and improve service capabilities * Partner with business lines to understand their resource needs in order to anticipate and meet their needs * Help businesses optimize their spend by analyzing and eliminating unnecessary demand, vetting and utilizing lower cost alternatives * Research and leverage marketplace best practices and industry benchmarking data to identify opportunities * Build and manage project plans to ensure timely completion Qualifications: * Industry experience and general understanding of Global Procurement is very helpful * Proven track record of supporting procurement category strategies, project plans, and vendor negotiations to bring in cost savings and other benefits * Project plan and project management skills * Tenacity and will to win to overcome obstacles with negotiations and implementation plans * Excellent communication skills both verbal and written (Powerpoint, Excel, Email, etc for senior level audiences) * Excellent analytical skills with data analysis, insights, and recommendations to help drive cost saves; proficiency in excel * Industry experience and financial services experience strongly preferred * Category experience in Human Resources, Marketing, Legal, Temp Labor or any other category assigned State Street Global Advisors Quincy MA
