Description of Position To plan and carry out an effective music education program that will maximize learning for all students and contribute to their development into confident, competent and creative learners. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Plan, communicate and carry out effective instruction to maximize learning for all students based on the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. 2.

Plan general music, instrument, vocal instruction and thematic lessons for K-5 students. 3. Engage and support all students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies and resources to respond to students' diverse needs and by engaging students in problem solving and critical thinking skills. 4. Create and maintain an effective environment for learning that engages all students in purposeful learning activities and encourages constructive interactions among students.

Establish and maintain standards for student behavior, managing routines, transitions, and instructional time effectively. 5. Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter content and student development by organizing curriculum to maximize student learning. 6. Work collaboratively with music department to plan and develop a comprehensive and well articulated K-8 music program. 7.

Support music department events and programs including school and district music performances and activities. Other Duties and Responsibilities 1. Attend grade level/department/staff meetings. 2.

Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with parents and staff. 3. Participate as active member at schools including extra duties as assigned. Job Related Skills and Essential Qualities 1.

Knowledge in using data and making instructional decisions. 2. Knowledge of instructional strategies, curriculum, and assessment. 3. Skilled at facilitating groups. 4.

Effective written and oral communications. Qualities 1. Flexible 2.

Organized 3. Works well with others 4. Committed to the belief that all students can learn *Interns without another current credential will come in at $52,105. They may be moved, after completion of the internship, to the salary column that is appropriate, effective the issue date of the preliminary credential.
