Other key program elements in Hebrew Public's schools include the Responsive Classroom model, Expeditionary Learning, Close Reading, Wilson Reading System, Eureka, Number Stories, Fundations and Geodes.

The network's first school in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Hebrew Public, opened in 2019, serving 156 students in Kindergarten and 1st grade. The school expanded to 5th grade in 2023-24 and will add a grade level each year until it ultimately serves grades K to 8 in the 2026-27 school year. PHP provides students with a sophisticated core curriculum in English Language Arts, mathematics, Modern Hebrew, the sciences, social studies, art, and physical education.

About the Position:

We select individuals who share our vision and are willing to put in the hard work to achieve it. We are seeking a driven Music Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year that operates with a high sense of urgency and possesses a strong work ethic. Candidates for this position do NOT need to speak Hebrew. The School is fully committed to a culturally diverse faculty and student body. The school is eager to consider applications from traditionally underrepresented groups.

Job Responsibilities and Characteristics:

  • Build a classroom culture in which students love Music

  • Collaborate with Teachers across the network to build a world-class music program while investing the community in the vital role of the arts in education;

  • Collaborate with Hebrew Public's Director of Israel Studies to help students explore and develop an understanding of Israel and Israeli music

  • Prior experience around Israel studies is welcomed but not required. Hebrew Public will provide training and support in these areas

  • Engage students with a repertoire that is relevant to their lives and interests; Design and execute professional-quality performance opportunities for all students

  • Ensure that students master grade-level standards

  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.

  • Boundless energy and enthusiasm for working with students and other adults in the building.

  • Performs other duties from time to time that may be assigned by the supervisor.

  • A person who believes in the critical importance of diversity in the life of a school

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; Masters degree preferred;

  • Elementary lead teaching experience in a classroom setting required

  • Hold PA Instructional I certification or working towards certification

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Legally authorized to work in the USA

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary and benefits will be highly competitive, equitable, and commensurate with experience. Base salary is $50,000 or above based on experience and qualifications.
