The primary purpose of this position is to perform duties as the Senior Curator & Operations Manager of the Air Mobility Command Museum.

Serves as the Museum Senior Curator
Manages three accountable collections consisting of over 4,000 individual items
Serves ad Operations Manager
Manages day-to-day operations to include scheduling and assigning staff to monitor all museum special events and functions
Contracting Officer Representative and Resource Advisor
Responsbile for oversight, actions, and training of volunteer staff members and the Aircraft Restoration Manager
Maintains Museum Cyber Systems hardware and software

Must complete USAF Museum Curators Course withinn six months of appointment and annually thereafter
Incumbent must complete annually required ethics training

Basic Requirements for GS-1015-11: A Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in museum work; or in an applicable subject matter field. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in museum work; or in an applicable subject matter field, plus appropriate experience or additional education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.
Four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study in museum work; or in an applicable subject matter field.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience for GS-1015-11 which includes in depth knowledge of professional museum management procedures specializing in collections. Thorough knowledge of ethical and professional museum standards. In depth knowledge of military aircraft, current and historical and the ability to plan and execute complex aircraft recovery, refurbishment, and restoration projects. Knowledge of the occupation to perform studies and prepare reports, documentation, and correspondence to communicate factual and procedural information clearly. Skill in applying the principles, concepts, and practices of the occupation sufficient to perform moderately difficult assignments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-09, grade/level or equivalent in the federal service. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas
1.In depth knowledge of professional museum management procedures specializing in collections.
2.Thorough knowledge of ethical and professional museum standards.
3.In depth knowledge of military aircraft, current and historical and the ability to plan and execute complex aircraft recovery, refurbishment, and restoration projects.
4.Skill in preparing exhibits including text, graphics, artifacts, and appropriate fixtures, consistently paying attention to detail.
5.Skill and ability to manage diverse work force, deal with the general public, and coordinate with government and civilian agencies.
6.Ability to perform research required to document historical presentations utilizing computer skills and knowledge to maintain databases while demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
