The roles and responsibilities of a consulting municipal engineer vary depending on the type of client they are representing.

Most importantly he or she must be a well-rounded engineer who has experience in most if not all aspects of municipal engineering. Depending on experience level, the anticipated salary range for this position may be as follows: Engineer IV $90,100 - $112,300 or Senior Engineer I $103,000 - $131,000 per year SGM offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees including medical, dental, vision coverage, employer paid STD/LTD/Life, HSA/FSA plans, 401k employer match, parental leave, vacation & sick leave, 8 paid holidays, and incentive compensation bonuses.

Benefits may be prorated for part-time employees. This position will be posted until filled but no sooner than three days from now. Principal Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Land development and the application review process Civil engineering includes drainage analysis and design, site design and grading, streetscapes, permitting, etc. Water and wastewater systems and potentially other utilities such as electric, stormwater, and more Road and trail design and construction Capital improvement planning, budgeting, and municipal financing Traffic engineering Asset management and the maintenance and operation of facilities, parks, etc. Technical project work, delegating as many technical duties to staff as possible Team Leader duties and responsibilities Project Management responsibilities Business/Financial Management Business Development/Marketing Client Service/Client Relations Staff development responsibilities, including mentoring and training Other duties as assigned Job Requirements Qualifications:

Current Colorado PE license in civil engineering Senior-level experience in municipal engineering or a related engineering field, including project management experience with a strong performance record Strong written and oral communication skills including public speaking and the ability to appropriately gauge the needs of the situation and adapt the communication style accordingly Excellent client service skills with increasing experience as a lead client service/relationship manager, especially with municipal/special district clients Ability to evaluate, plan, direct, manage, communicate, engage and oversee projects with varying degree of complexity Interest in and track record of successfully developing new business Valid Driver's License Preferred Qualifications: Prior supervisory experience preferred; must have natural leadership skills and a desire to mentor and build a team Proficiency with and a good working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) preferred Strong desire to live, work and play in western Colorado SGM is seeking applicants who have the desire to provide quality service, enjoy working in a team atmosphere, and want to be a part of a company that finds as much value in their employees as they do their clients.
